Psalm 30 reminds us of not only God’s greatness, but that he is our very help in times of need. David looks back over God’s faithfulness in the past and looks forward to the days ahead with continued gratitude and praise!

God is our healer and our hope when we are depressed or in despair. He turns our morning and sorrow into joy and gladness!

When he convicts us and we turn from our sin, his anger only lasts for a moment; his kindness and forgiveness, on the other hand, last for a lifetime!

Psalm 30

Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

1 I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
    and you have healed me.
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

As for me, I said in my prosperity,
    “I shall never be moved.”
By your favor, O Lord,
    you made my mountain stand strong;
you hid your face;
    I was dismayed.

To you, O Lord, I cry,
and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
“What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
Will it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
    O Lord, be my helper!”

11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you have been so faithful to me and delivered me over and over from my greatest fears!

When I have cried to you for help, you rescued me and healed me. When I have confessed my sin, you have been faithful to forgive me, and your anger did not last forever.

Your hope and joy are mine for a lifetime.  May my voice join the multitude of saints who continually praise your name. May I never fail to give thanks to you my Lord!

Amen.

  1. Oh Lord, as the sun rises give ear to our praises. Be merciful to your church for many are hurting, some are sick and some have died. Comfort each and turn mourning into gladness for we proclaim your goodness. May we dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen

    1. AMEN, Terry Lowry!
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye, all ye lands. Serve the Lord, the Lord with galdness; Come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God. It is He who hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His Holy name. For the Lord , the Lord is good.
His mercy is everlasting, and His truth, His truth endureth to all generations.
Make a joyful noise into the Lord…….

  2. Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for another day to live in Your wonderful world. When I was a child I did and thought of childish things but now that I am grown, I have come to appreciate and value You so much. I am so thankful that Your great love and forgiveness was shown to me at an early age so that I have been able to know You and follow You most of my life. I do get sad and depressed at times from all of the heartaches that life can bring. However, my spirit is lifted and my heart sings once again when I am reminded that “nothing is impossible with God.” Then my darkness and gloom fade away and my happiness returns. Joy indeed comes in the morning and I am ready again to face the day. May I never forget to praise You and glorify Your Name, Jesus, the sweetest name I know. Amen.

  3. Thank you Jesus that when I cry out to You, I know You hear me and provide me comfort and healing. Your promise tells me that in trouble You are my present Help!

  4. Thank you, Lord, for this awesomely beautiful day! The birds are singing and the sun is shining and it is a fresh new morning. May I use it to praise and glorify you and do as you want me to do. Lead us all through these very different times. Guide our leaders in their decisions as we begin this recovery process. Help us hope for things to settle….Your will, Father, your will. Amen.

    1. Great is thy faithfulness
      O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
All I have needed your hand hath provided,
      Great is thy faithfulness
      Lord unto me. Amen!

  5. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “if my people, who are called by name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven , and I will forgive their sin, and heal their land.”
Humble-pray-seek God-turn-listen-watch what He will do!!

    1. In modern words, humble and pray – confess. Turn from our wicked ways – repent. We are eager to ask for God’s help but not so eager to confess and repent. There will be no healing without confession and repentence.

  6. Thank you God for your faithfulness and for all your goodness to your children.

  7. Heavenly Father thank you for this beautiful new day, thank you that I will have another day to spend with my child. Thank you for assuring me that you are always there to guide and protect me. We ask you to guide our leaders and strengthen their faith as they lead this country. In Jesus name
    Amen.

  8. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayers, for forgiving me of my sins and for loving me. Amen!

  9. Your favor is for a lifetime. You have turned my mourning into dancing and clothed me with gladness. I will give thanks to You forever.

  10. Thank you Lord for a new week, a new start. May you receive the glory and honor from the work of our hands. I lift up our church leaders and ministers as they search your will. Please bring volunteers and provisions for the community centers. Like the manna in the desert, please bless the provisions and spread them to those in our community who are hungry – for food and for the hope that comes from you. Protect our volunteers as they serve you with gladness!

  11. God of creation, I worship you this morning with humble gratification. As the wind, the bird, and creation praises you name, so will I. Thank you father that even in these uncertain times the one true constant is you. That when have despair you are there, when we have fear, you bring faith, when we are sadness, you provide joy.

May you return beauty for aashes and strength for fear today for your people. Please place a praise in our lips today that renders our fears meaningless as we follow your voice though the darkness. You give light, you are the light. Lead us today father as we follow and focus on you.

Thank you Lord for your never ending love!
    In Jesus name, Amen!

  12. Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

    Love that verse!

  13. Day 15!

Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

  14. Psalm 121:1
I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from ? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth…

Thank you Lord for Your grace and mercy, they are new every morning!

  15. “Joy comes in the morning.”
“On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of his resurrection share…”
“Oh that will be glory for me!”
“Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

  16. Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your word, your truth, love, mercy and grace. Without you we are nothing and can do nothing.

I praise you for how you have blessed me, for answering my prayer of conviction and for humility that I need everyday. Thank you for reminding me that there is a difference between happiness and joy. Like my mom taught me Don’t let Satan steal the J out of Joy as this comes only from you.

I pray doing this time that everyone will see and know that you love us regardless of our circumstances. This too shall pass. In Jesus name.

  17. Joy in the morning… must be my lack of vision or lack of gratitude or maybe a late night that Results in me dragging instead of dancing for joy in the morning. HMmm maybe a new approach is in order…

  18. Thank you Lord for bringing me closer to you each day. Thank you for the direction you have given me each day.

  19. Thank you Lord that joy comes with the morning! You are my ever present help in time of need!

  20. Thank you Lord once again for the reminder that when L cry out to you you will hear me and bring help & deliverance!!

  21. Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your soft whispers that brings peace to my heart, mind and soul.
Jesus, thank you for the Holy Spirit that blesses me how to die physically and how to live spiritually.
Father help me to accept and forgive when I have been treated wrongfully. Please control my thoughts, actions and words that I may utter, so that I will not sin against You.
Thank you for guarding my heart and mind.

    In Jesus name, Amen.

  22. Thank you Lord for the fresh start you give us each morning. Yesterday may have had it’s troubles, but You are with me every step of the way. Help me to catch each word before it leaves my mouth, and that whatever is said be true and pleasing to You. Thank you for caring about the smallest details of our lives. Thank you for the opportunity of a new day to draw closer to You!!!

  23. Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that I can look back over my life and see the many times You’ve rescued me — the many times You’ve heard my cries for help — and the many times You’ve given me rest from my worries.

I have experienced the night with You but also the glorious morning ! You’ve taught me that JOY does come again! I’m forever grateful!

    Amen.

  24. I understand that because God is just, he must be angry. However, his grace, mercy, forgiveness, his love for us is so overwhelming, that his anger is compared to a moment, in light of his eternal favor. Praise the Lord!
