About This Sermon
Jarrett Stephens teaches from Psalm 62 about what to do when life feels unsteady. He identifies three common sources of shaking ground: the brevity of life, personal distress, and the silence of God. Drawing from the Psalms of Jeduthun, he shows how these experiences unsettle us and expose the false security of escapism, numbing, and wealth.
David gives three faithful responses: wait on God in silence, trust Him at all times, and pour out your heart in prayer. Jarrett illustrates this with the story of his friend Johnson Ellis, who walked through his wife's death from dementia with sustained love and dependence on God. God alone is our rock, fortress, and refuge because power belongs to Him and steadfast love belongs to Him.
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6; Proverbs 23:4-5; Psalms 26:1; Psalms 39:4-5; Psalms 39:2-12; Psalms 46:10; Psalms 62; Psalms 77:1-9
