About This Sermon
Jarrett Stephens teaches from Hebrews 11:23-28 about courageous faith through the life of Moses and his parents. He opens with Harriet Tubman, nicknamed "Moses," as a modern picture of someone who obeyed God despite cost and apparent craziness. Then he walks through three decisions in Moses's life: his parents hiding him from Pharaoh's death decree, Moses at age 40 refusing his royal identity to suffer with God's people, and later keeping the Passover by faith.
Each choice illustrates the sermon statement that builds through the message: courageous faith obeys God despite the cost, despite how crazy it seems, because faith sees what the world cannot see. Jarrett applies this to personal decisions, ethical stands at work or school, and the church's calling to say yes to God's vision even when it looks irrational.
