A Call to Prayer for VBS

Why the whole church? Under the leadership of our Pastor, our church family is becoming more aware of our need for corporate prayer. We all pray in our homes, in our specific ministries and in our LifeGroups, but we must also pray corporately, as a body of believers, because God chooses to act uniquely when His church comes to Him as one in prayer. We've learned more about this through our First Saturday, 8:00 AM Prayer time in the Chapel.

Why VBS? VBS is one of our church's most important outreach efforts each year. We reach thousands of children with the Good News of the Gospel and strive to instill basic spiritual principles which will reside permanently in their hearts and minds. In reaching children, we also reach many parents with the same messages.

Here's the plan: You've been invited to join us in prayer, and to invite 10 people to join you. When your 10 agree to join you, ask each of them to enlist 10 more. If each one of us does his/her part, within a matter of days, we will have thousands praying!

What are our expectations?

We believe God will provide a great harvest:

  • Children won to Christ (and some parents!),
  • Parents challenged to invest in their children's spiritual growth,
  • Families changed,
  • The body of Christ growing through intercessory prayer,
  • The church strengthened,
  • And the joy of the Lord increased in each prayer warrior!

VBS 2026 Weekly Prayer Prompts

Pray for the Kids Min leadership team, Stephanie Chase, Stephanie Rogers, and David Armijo and the kids ministry staff for wisdom, discernment, favor, knowledge and protection.

Pray for the parents and grandparents of children all over our community and city to invite and bring as many children as possible to hear the good news about Jesus.

Pray for every child at VBS to know God loves them and knows them by name.

Pray for safety, physically and spiritually, the week of VBS.

  • Pray for logistics to be communicated clearly to all involved, for drop off and pick up to be clear and easy for parents, for every child to always stay with their group.
  • Pray the enemy will have no place in VBS and unity, peace, joy and love will prevail.

Pray for the VBS leader training on Sunday, May 17 from 5–7pm.

  • Ask God to prepare, equip, train, encourage, and inspire every leader with what they need to love each child in their group and lead them to Jesus.

Pray for Decision Day, Wednesday, June 10.

  • Pray for teachers to clearly share the gospel, for children's hearts to be ready to receive God's truth, for children to understand the gospel and for those who are lost to receive eternal life.
  • Pray for the decision encouragers who will meet with each child to hear and understand what God is doing in each child's heart, for the Holy Spirit to guide their conversations and for them to clearly share the gospel.

Pray for VBS teachers and leaders who will serve the week of VBS.

  • Pray for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit and display the fruits of His Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
  • Pray for leaders to build connections with children that opens the door to spiritual conversations.
  • Pray for their relationship with God to be strong and secure and for the Lord to give them the words to say in each conversation.

Pray for VBS follow up.

  • Pray for joyful conversations with parents whose children accept Christ.
  • Pray for children who accept Christ to follow through in baptism.
  • Pray for lost or unchurched families to attend the parenting class offered during Life Groups on Sunday, June 14, following VBS and for them to be excited to bring their children to church for the Color Run during Life Groups. (Children will be encouraged to wear their VBS t-shirts made during VBS art to church on June 14. During kids life groups they will get to participate in a Color Run, where they run around a designated track and get sprayed with safe, fun colors. Kids LOVE it!!)
