Matthew 26-27:1-10

Peter Denies Jesus

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.” 71 And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.” 73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you.” 74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Jesus Delivered to Pilate

27 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor.

Judas Hangs Himself

Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself. But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is blood money.” So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers. Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel, 10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”

    1. Lord, I would never deny you. You are my Father and I am your child. No one who believes in you should never deny you. Hallelujah and Amen✝🙏🏻✝🙏🏻🙌🏻💜🙌🏻💜

  1. Do not fall away from God when things get tough. It is at those times you beed to draw closer to Him.

  2. It is difficult to understand how Judas could have been with Jesus for so long and still not understand,
but I have family that grew up with me and went to church with me while we were growing up and
they still do not know Jesus.
God please help me to be a better example and point people to Jesus.

Please stop the war in Ukraine and watch over those people.
    Amen.

  3. Dear Lord help us to stand daily for your truth and point people to you .

  4. Lord, I pray that I will never deny You. Thank You for everything. I so glad You called me to follow You. I pray for my family members to open the door and invite You into their hearts. In Jesus Christ’ name. Amen.

  5. True repentance (Peter) grieves over sin and remember’s God’s Word . It drives you to Jesus. Remorse (Judas) stays there and does not drive you to Jesus. It goes to the world. Judas had regret but no real repentance. He confessed to the wrong people.

  6. It very difficult for me to understand the religious leader hearts when they said we can not put this money into the treasure because it is blood money.
They would not admit that they themselves were responsible for Judas actions. How they thought God would not hold them responsible for such actions is beyond me.

  7. We never know the condition of our hearts until we’re tested. We can say things that sounds good or look good but in our hearts is it a one sided relationship? Tony Evans mentioned that religion & relationship is not the same. Without a personal relationship, religion doesn’t mean much to GOD. Our mistakes can only defeat us when we don’t follow them by confession & seeking JESUS. Thanks be to GOD that HE knows us better than we know ourselves & is waiting for us to repent, confess, & return to HIM so that we can be restored. GOD is good.

  8. I can remember the first time I was told this story. As young as I was. I thought it was sad in itself. As I grew older, the story took on even more sadder feelings as I considered Peter’s emotions…especially when he heard the rooster crowing and the words of Jesus came to him. Even later, I considered the joy he had when he realized the love and forgiveness that Jesus had for him.
    A favorite story, for sure!

  9. Thank you oh Mighty God for your son and His death and resurrection. Like Peter we often deny you when faced with unbearable situations and like Judas we sometimes sell you out for material things we want by not giving our thithes and offering. Inspite of all of our short commings you were still willing to give your son for our salvation and He was willing to die in our place for our sins, because He was obedient unto death no matter what the cost.

Help us God to build a true relation with you, to be obedient unto death and to fear nothing or noone.

    Be blessed church
