Luke 5:17-26

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

17 On one of those days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with him to heal.[a] 18 And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus, 19 but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 22 When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed—“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.” 25 And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God. 26 And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”

  1. Thank you Jesus for forgiving us our sins. May I be like the men who will do anything to bring a friend in need before You. For we need healing and our sins need forgiving and we need to turn from our wicked ways so God will heal our land. Amen

    1. Lord you are an Awesome God and a Loving God. Believe and have Faith that the Lord can do all things possible you just have to ask and you will receive. Glory be to our Father and our Lord. Amen 🙏🏻✝🙏🏻✝💜💜🙌🏻🙌🏻

  2. Thank You, Jesus that the man had been given friends that were willing to carry their corner to help this man to a changed relationship with YOU. PTL

  3. Praise the lord for his healing of the paralyzed man. God can heal all diseases . I continue to pray for healing of my cancer in the name of Jesus.

    1. There will always be individuals around that question the authincety of who Jesus is and the power he possess even after they see His miracles work. Just like in today’s reading there will aways be those who has the faith and boldness to seek and find the way to Him for their healing or whatever it is they need or have been praying for. These are the ones who know who He is and what He can do and others around them can see and believe and glorify God as well.

      Be blessed church.

  4. Luke 5:20 says; “seeing their faith HE said, friend, your sins are forgiven.” Now how do you see faith? Well, you see it by what you do & JESUS saw their action on behalf of their friend & HE also saw a paralyzed man who needed to be healed, who needed forgiveness. JESUS blessed him spiritually & physically. Faith in action can get us all a double blessing. (James 2:17) faith w/out works is dead or (2Ptr. 1:5) supplement your faith w/goodness. Praise GOD for the gift of faith.

  5. We are those friends who go out and visit those who have both physical & spiritual ailments… We do this late Sunday afternoons… It’s called Life On Mission (LOM). It is a sweet time when we pray for/with people about anything that’s on their hearts… And even a sweeter time when the Lord uses us on a Devine appointment to open eyes/hearts to Christ…

Do you remember the friend that led you to the Lord? I do… Thank you Father for friends.

  6. Dear Heavenly Father,
I have had such a mixture of blessings and trials in my life . But both were needed to realize the difference because
without one I would not have learned of the other . Having faith that God is in control has sustained me through it all
Thank you for loving me and abiding with me through my whole life.Amen.

  7. A favorite story…aren’t they all?! I want to be a faithful friend like those in this story..
