Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

  1. Father,

    I struggle.

    I worry.

    I walk the wrong paths.

    But Father, you sent you son to be my Good Shepherd. May he lead me always on the path of righteousness.

    When my path is darkened, I will not fear death. I await the Marriage Feast of the Lamb where my head will be anointed with oil and my cup will overflow with your goodness and mercy.

    To the amazement of my enemies, I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever and forever.

    I want nothing but to serve King Jesus, here and on the other side of glory.

    Amen

  2. Good morning Lord!

    We, your people, need to experience your amazing love. Isn’t that the truth, Lord? Not just knowing and understanding that you love us. Don’t we need to feel that love? “Now, these three remain, faith, hope and love but, the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13: 13
    Lord, in the midst of the pandemic and misery incident to the ice storm, we, your people, need to feel your love. We need to experience your love. so that we can abide in you.

  3. Focusing on the green pastures and still waters Lord. Even in the midst of this trial of caring for elderly parents, with no electricity, no water, you still help remember there is still beauty & joy in trials together. Love still permeates all things. Unexpected acts of kindness prompt us to do the same, because of YOU , your LOVE has taught us all your goodness and mercy. Father, thank you for the little things and THANK YOU for the BIG things. We love you. Amen

  4. I am so grateful, Lord, that You are my Shepherd, going before me, providing, protecting, meeting every need, always with me every day of my life and then forever. You even died to rescue me from my worst enemy, that I might be with You forever. My heart overflows with love and gratitude!

  5. Dear Heavenly Father,
    You tell us that you are near to us and that you will never leave us. I see you all around despite the terrible pandemic and the hardships with this winter freeze. I believe you. I have faith that you are constantly working for the good of all. You say come unto you all those who are heavily laden and you will give us rest. Well here I am,Lord. I surrender all to you. In Jesus’name name,
    Amen.

  6. This is my favorite Psalm as I learned this one as a child in elementary school and still remember it to this day. I learned it out of the King James Version with my grandmother. This Psalm was placed in my heart and mind and recite it every time I have an issue and it gives me complete comfort.
    Heavenly Father,
    Thank you for giving me a strong Christian grandmother that I spent my summers with and she taught me this Psalm. Thank you for never allowing me to forget it as it is buried deep in my heart and soul. I pray that you will give others strong Christian grandparents, parents or friends that will be used in their lives the way you used my grandmother and my parents to seek after you. Thank you for choosing me before I ever chose you. Now help me to continue to be a light in this dark world that others will see you in me. I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen

  7. It was point out in my group zoom prayer time today that man’s plans failed for supplying electricity but that you never fail us. Ps 23

  8. 6″Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Thank you Lord for being with me every day and thank you for your mercy and goodness. In Jesus name, Amen
