God’s Plan for Creation

With so many different creation theories discussed in our society today, it is so important for kids to learn this truth: God created the world from nothing. He has had a plan for the world since before time began. This month’s Daily Bible Reading helps kids learn about that plan.

After kids hear how God created the world, they will hear how sin entered the world through Adam and Eve’s disobedience. In the time of Noah and his family, people also behaved in evil and sinful ways. Through this well-known Bible story, kids will see that God is in charge of and cares for His creation. The final session of this unit will show that all creation follows God’s plan. When the people attempted to promote their selfish interests, God confused their language and scattered them throughout the earth.

As you read with your child, remember to stress the role of Jesus in creation. The Bible says that Jesus is Lord over all creation. He was there at the beginning of creation, and everything was created by Him and for Him. The Son has always existed, and He holds everything together. (Colossians 1:16-17)

Jesus is God’s Son

This month’s Daily Bible Reading focuses on Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Kids will hear first about Jesus. They will learn about His miracles of healing a paralyzed man and calming a storm. They will hear of His ultimate purpose to save those who believe and trust in Him, and then His promise to send the Holy Spirit to help all believers. For some kids, the Holy Spirit may be a challenging concept to grasp. That’s OK! Keep teaching, be patient, and trust God to help you.

The CFBC Kids Ministry team prays that each day will lead kids to understand these great biblical concepts and come to trust Jesus as Savior and Lord.

The Bible, God’s Word.

In this month’s Daily Bible Reading plan, kids will hear that the Bible is God’s message to the world. God’s Word is true. It shines light to guide our paths in righteous living that honors Him.

Kids will learn about the Ten Commandments God gave Moses on Mount Sinai. Through the lives of Old Testament prophets and kings, kids will learn about the importance of obeying God’s Word. While some people promised to follow God’s instructions completely, others ignored and disrespected them.

As God leads, share your love for His Word and how Its words guide you. Stress that the Bible is not just a set of rules to follow. It is God’s powerful message about Himself and His plan of salvation. Encourage your kids to develop the desire and habit of reading daily from their Bibles.

Easter is Here!

While families enjoy candy, egg hunts, and other traditions, it can be easy to brush past the real reason to celebrate: the resurrection of Jesus! Of course, family traditions are not inherently bad, but we hope that the Daily Bible Reading plan will help you guide kids this month to focus on Jesus alone.

This month’s DBR begins with Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection and how Jesus took the punishment for sin. Then we focus on Jesus’ life on earth following His resurrection.

We hope this month will be one of celebration of the risen Lord! As you teach your kids, know that the Kids Ministry team is praying that the Holy Spirit will draw many children to Jesus and His saving grace.

What Does The Church Do?

In this month’s Daily Bible Reading, kids will hear about God’s intentional plan for His church.

In both the Old and New Testaments, God’s people are called to worship Him and give Him glory. From the Old Testament kids will hear how Solomon obeyed God’s detailed instructions and built the temple. Then from the New Testament, kids will discover how the early church needed and appointed helpers. Kids also will learn about two ordinances of the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Help your child understand baptism is an outward symbol
that a believer has trusted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Emphasize that believers participate in the Lord’s Supper
to remember what Jesus did when He died on the cross for their sins.

As you learn together about baptism and the Lord’s Supper, your child might have questions about trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord. Follow the direction of the Holy Spirit and gently answer his/her questions. Offer to talk more about God’s love for them and the grace He offers through Jesus.

Once your child has made the decision to follow Jesus and asks Him to be their Lord and Savior, contact your Kids Ministry Office to schedule a decision counsel. Together we will make sure your child understands the decision to follow Jesus and the meaning of baptism. At the end of the meeting you will receive instructions to schedule baptism.

In the start of the new year, kids will learn about the best news ever: the good news of Jesus! This month’s Daily Bible Reading focuses on the fact that Jesus came to earth so people might be reconciled to God. Kids will focus on stories of how Jesus and others shared this good news.

The Kids Ministry team knows that you have such a great opportunity to lay a foundation for the gospel in your kids’ lives. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as you dig deeper together, as a family, every day! Pray also that the Spirit would move and bring your child(ren) to know the Savior.

Know that our team is praying that God will give you boldness and sensitivity as you speak from your heart about God’s saving grace—the best gift ever!
