Nutrition (First Place)
First Place is a Christ-centered health program for men and women of all ages. Using a support system that incorporates Bible study, Scripture memorization, prayer and balanced eating and exercise plans.3>
First Place provides the opportunity to change your life, not only physically but spiritually and emotionally. First Place is a reliable, proven method of weight loss and balanced living. It continues to grow as a strong church program. First Place has had groups in 12,000 churches across the country—with over a half million members!
Who can join the program?
Men and women of all ages who want to lose excess weight, lower cholesterol, learn better eating habits or become more disciplined in the areas of prayer, Bible study and exercise.
How is First Place different from other weight-management programs?
Luke 2:52 teaches that we are four-sided people: spiritual, physical, mental and emotional. First Place is unique in that it deals with the fact that God views our bodies as His temple and cares about the condition of each part of us. His concern for us is just as important as losing weight (physical), practicing accountability to others (mental) or addressing the reasons (emotional needs) why we gain excess weight (spiritual).
What is involved in being a First Place member?
The program runs 13 weeks per session. Members are asked to make nine commitments for the length of the session.
The First Place program consists of nine categories, which make up the "commitments" that each member is asked to prayerfully consider and follow when joining a class.
- Attendance
- Encouragement
- Prayer
- Bible Reading
- Scripture Memory
- Bible Study
- "Live-It" Plan
- Commitment Record
- Exercise
Do I have to buy special food?
No. In First Place you’ll be taught to eat "normal" food. You’ll learn to cook low-fat recipes from food you buy at the grocery store, and you'll learn how to make healthy choices in restaurants.
The tremendous success of First Place is due to its biblical approach to weight management, which puts Christ first and improves every area of a person’s life: spiritual, physical, mental and emotional. This Christ-centered, balanced weight-loss program has guided hundreds of thousands of people to a healthy lifestyle and a closer walk with the Lord. The program includes Bible study, group support and accountability; a proven, common-sense nutrition plan; regular exercise; daily prayer; and Scripture memorization.
How much does it cost?
The program for the Spring 2008 semester is $40 for alumni and $80 for new members. This price includes registration fee, Healthy Boundaries Bible Study, Free FLC membership and member tools (for new members).
This semester we will study Healthy Boundaries
People without boundaries can quickly lose direction. Learn how to create intentional boundaries to leap the hurdles of temptation and not compromise your commitment to weight loss. Healthy Boundaries will help you do this and more. Discover how God can empower you to assess, define and rebuild physical, mental, emotional and spiritual boundaries. Today's the day to take back your life!
