Becky Lanier

Born in Lubbock, Texas, I was blessed to be raised in a Christ-centered family. Our regular church attendance, family Bible studies, and the loving example set by my parents taught me about God’s love and forgiveness from an early age. When I was 12, I realized that only Jesus Christ could save me from my sins, and I accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior.

Studies in international trade, Spanish, and law led me to jobs teaching Spanish and eventually to a career as an attorney in the fields of employment and civil rights. After marrying Mark, an old friend from high school, I became a stay-at-home mom to our growing family, finally topping off at five children. In 1997 Mark and I were involved in a nearby church, hosting Bible studies and home groups. We were invited by dear friends to visit Champion Forest. We joined them one Sunday and immediately felt connected. Our children embraced the warm welcome from the children’s ministry, and Mark and I found a class that felt like family. The opportunities to grow, serve, and learn more about God’s word drew us in, and Champion Forest quickly became our church home.

Mark and I were blessed to be a Champion Forest family as we raised our five children. I loved teaching for many years in the children’s and student ministries and volunteering at Vacation Bible School when my kids were young. Throughout the years I have been blessed to participate in other ministries and programs such as helping lead worship services for the nursing home ministry, participating in the women’s ministry, and serving on the Guatemala mission team. I have enjoyed being involved in our life group’s in reach, outreach, and social committees. My personal growth has continued to be fostered not only directly through our life at Champion Forest, but also through Bible studies hosted in neighboring congregations. My family has immensely enjoyed partnering with Champion Forest to host speakers and conferences in our family’s library and help provide housing and other support to new and visiting pastors and church staff.

This is an exciting time for Champion Forest. We are a diverse church with so many opportunities. The excellent leadership we have had has set us on a path of outreach and growth as we address the needs of our community and seek to share the gospel through demonstrations of God’s love. Through prayer and diligence, I am confident that our church will find God’s person for the new pastoral role. Through this process will come the future focus and direction for our church that will bless our members, our community, and the lives of people all around the globe.

I am truly honored to be considered for the Pastor Search Committee. If selected, I would prayerfully devote my time, efforts, and resources to this important work so that God’s will can be accomplished in all aspects of this process. I would exhibit the discretion and discipline necessary to be an effective committee member. I would joyfully and enthusiastically dedicate myself to the teamwork required to serve our church as we seek God’s choice for our next pastor.
