Daily Bible Reading (DBR) prepares 1st-5th Graders for what they will learn on Sunday. Your child will discover new and amazing things about God, Jesus and the Bible! Encourage your child to have a journal and write what they learn each day. Set a goal to spend time daily reading the Bible and praying with your child. Or encourage them to do so independently.

What Does The Church Do?

In this month’s Daily Bible Reading, kids will hear about God’s intentional plan for His church.

In both the Old and New Testaments, God’s people are called to worship Him and give Him glory. From the Old Testament kids will hear how Solomon obeyed God’s detailed instructions and built the temple. Then from the New Testament, kids will discover how the early church needed and appointed helpers. Kids also will learn about two ordinances of the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Help your child understand baptism is an outward symbol
that a believer has trusted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Emphasize that believers participate in the Lord’s Supper
to remember what Jesus did when He died on the cross for their sins.

As you learn together about baptism and the Lord’s Supper, your child might have questions about trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord. Follow the direction of the Holy Spirit and gently answer his/her questions. Offer to talk more about God’s love for them and the grace He offers through Jesus.

Once your child has made the decision to follow Jesus and asks Him to be their Lord and Savior, contact your Kids Ministry Office to schedule a decision counsel. Together we will make sure your child understands the decision to follow Jesus and the meaning of baptism. At the end of the meeting you will receive instructions to schedule baptism.
