Dear Parents,
Relax. (Insert deep breath here.)
One of the long-held purposes of the CFBC Kids Ministry is to equip parents to be the primary faith disciplers of their children.
You’re in the laboratory, big time, now. You were thrown into this season with little warning and no time to plan. Some of you are trying to be homeschool parents for the first time. And all of you have just become your child’s KidLife Group teachers. But relax. We are here to help. We promise to support you, with prayer, ideas, curriculum, and lots of love along the journey.

First a thought about life in general.
There is lots of grace here, and it’s not going to be perfect. Nothing about this is optimal. So it’s ok to relax and learn to enjoy your kiddos. And laugh and play together. And some screen time is okay for a few weeks, too. And you don’t have to teach every second, you’ll wear yourself out. BUT MAKE A SCHEDULE FIRST, for sanity sake. Kids need boundaries and routine. Then feel free to throw it out on any given day. Just know that life needs to feel normal, and together we are learning a new normal.

Now about our faith journeys.
But FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS!!!!! This is your concerted crash course chance to live out your faith with your kids and teach it as they sit at the table, walk in the way, and lie down at night. At least we have water and electricity, and are not having to do mudouts!!! We hope everyone can look back on these days with joy, because of the closeness it brought to their families, not the inconvenience and pain …

Habakkuk 1:5 mysteriously encourages us to “Look among the nations and observe. Be astonished! Wonder. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Covid-19 didn’t catch God by surprise. He reigns seated on His throne, a conquering king. He is not pacing about anxiously wondering what is going to happen next. Let’s tap into the WOW (wonder of the work) that is upon us. Let’s be a part of the work He is doing among the nations and in our own families. Let’s redeem the days.

And relax.

Have you in our hearts,
Your Kids Ministry Team
