Kid Life Groups: November 29th

Please Note: Beginning in December, an online “Countdown to Christmas” family advent calendar will be available and will replace the activities here on the KidLife Group lesson pages. Priscilla and Aquila

Parents, today your child learned that families can worship and tell about God. Priscilla and Aquila learned more about Jesus from Paul. They passed on that knowledge to Apollos and others. How does your family worship God? Involve your child in planning a family worship time at home. Let him take the lead in choosing songs and other ways to worship God as a family.

Use these simple steps to guide your family during today’s Life Group time.

Step 1: Print Activity Pages

Print one for each child. This is a great tool to have as you go through the videos. Each download includes the Activity Page for your child and a One Conversation page for you to use with the Bible reference and story.

Step 2: Watch Bible Story Video

Before you press play, sit together and pray. Thank God for this special day to worship and learn about Him. Then, watch the Bible story video together.

Preschool Bible Story

1st-5th Grade Bible Story

3. Read & Discuss The Bible Story Together

Use the Activity Page and One Conversation Page you printed to read and discuss the Bible Story together. Select an activity and talk about how it goes along with the story.

Weekly News: Kids

November 20, 2020

Parents,

Thanksgiving is less than a week away and we’d like to say how thankful we are for YOU! We are so thankful that we get to gather together and see your families every week (online or in person). YOU are very special to us!

We pray your week will be filled with thankfulness, hugs, giggles, and special moments with family and friends. Use some of the activities below to make Thanksgiving memories this year.

  • Alphabet Thanks // Work together as a family to name something you are thankful for that starts with each letter of the alphabet.
  • Nighttime Thanks // Snuggle up outside in a blanket with a flashlight. Point the flashlight to things you see. Thank God for all you see in the dark.
  • Guessing Thanks // Take turns describing what you’re thankful for without saying the actual word. Can your family guess your thankful thought?
  • Acting Thanks // Each family member takes a turn acting out things they are thankful for (without making a sound) while others try to guess.

We love you & are for you!

Happy Thanksgiving,
Stephanie & Becky

Mary, Martha, and Lazarus
(Kindergarten-5th Grade)

Today Kindergarteners and 1st-5th Graders learned that families can trust Jesus together. Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were friends of Jesus. Mary and Martha showed they knew Jesus was God’s Son by trusting Him to raise Lazarus from the dead. If your child has not made the decision to follow Christ, share with her the plan of salvation. Explain to them that your job is to tell her about Jesus and His love, but she must make the decision to become a Christian

Jesus Visited Mary and Martha
(Birth-PreK)

Families can show love for Jesus. Think about ways your family shows love for Jesus. Maybe you regularly read the Bible together. Perhaps you take food to local charities or support other caring ministries in your church or community. Families show love for Jesus by helping other families know about Jesus. Talk with your family members and choose another family to invite to church or to spend time with and talk about Jesus.

Activities

Babies-Kinder

One’s & Two’s
Make Food Collages
Gather: Kids Activity Page, paper plate, glue stick, scissors, marker, cut food pictures from magazines or grocery store ads.

  • Print the Life Point (Families can show love for Jesus) on the paper plate and read it aloud to your child.
  • Help your child complete the Kids Activity Page and discuss the Bible story.
  • Offer your child the paper plate and suggest that he/she glue pictures of food on the plate.
  • Talk about the Bible story and mention that Martha made a meal for Jesus and Mary listened to Jesus’ words. Review the Weekly Verse together (Jesus said, “You are My friends.” John 15:14).

Three’s – PreK

  • Place paint onto the paper plates.
  • Assist your child in completing the Kids Activity Page. Point out the Teaching Picture and tell the Bible story.

Gather: Kids Activity Page, letter tiles, magnetic alphabet letters, or other manipulative with letters.

  • Have your child complete the Activity Page. Review the Bible story together.
  • Ask your child to tell the names of your family members. Provide the letters and encourage your child to spell the name of a family member. When names are spelled, stop and pray together for each name that is spelled. Ask God to help that family member trust Jesus.
  • Remind your child that God wants families to trust Jesus together, but each family member must make the choice himself to trust in Jesus. Discuss ways that families can trust Jesus together. One way is to worship God together. Families can worship God at church, at home, and everywhere they go.
  • Review the Weekly Verse together (“Jesus, I know You are the Son of God.” John 11:27
1st-5th Grade

Bible Skills- Women of the Bible
  • You will be researching a few women in the Bible, just like they are learning about Mary and Martha today.

  • Read the verses and answer:
    • What is the woman’s/women’s name?
    • What happened to her?
    • How did she respond?
    • How was God involved?

Trust Acrostic

  • Write T-R-U-S-T vertically down on a sheet of paper.
  • Lead kids to think of ways families can trust Jesus together that include the letters in the word Trust.
  • Ex. Tell the truth.   Remember God’s plan is perfect. Upward looking. Say a prayer.
  • Hand everyone a sheet of paper and have them create their own Trust Acrostic. They can use color or markers to decorate their masterpiece.

Family Cup Stacking

  • You will need 10 disposable cups.
  • Write a few words from the Romans 12:10 on each cup.

4. Missions Emphasis

  • Review the missions story and how Freddy Apuela trusted in Jesus as his Savior.
  • Remind kids of the meaning of a testimony. (when someone tells about his experience or about something he has seen)

  • Distribute copies of “My Story” and lead kids to fill in the blanks.
  • Challenge kids to use their statements to tell other people about Jesus.
  • Pray and ask God to give kids opportunities to tell others about Jesus

5. Pray

  • Ask God to help us show love, respect, and honor to our family.
  • Thank God for creating your family and everyone in it.
  • Thank God for generously providing for your family.
  • Thank you for sending Jesus to be our Lord and Savior and ask that each person in your family choose to trust Him.

Weekly News: Kids

November 6, 2020

Parents,

We have some exciting news for our at home and at church families! Countdown to Christmas (a family advent calendar) will begin in December and follow along with the Daily Bible Reading calendar you are already familiar with.

The Advent calendar will include fun activities and games for the whole family each day and will replace the activities provided each week on the Sunday Life Group lesson page.

Don’t worry, at home families, we will still continue to provide you with the videos that go along with the Sunday Life Group lesson on our YouTube page!

We can’t wait to begin this online experience with you. Be on the lookout for more details coming soon!

See below for this week’s Kids Ministry News and Info.

November Daily Bible Reading

Christmas Adventure

Christmas ADVENTure is an interactive worship experience for families and is designed to help celebrate the birth of Jesus. We will share a child-friendly Christmas message in the Worship Center. Carol singing and participation by the kids will be included as elements of worship.

Registration opens Thanksgiving Day and is required to participate in activities including a live nativity, a Christmas craft, family mission project, and a Christmas snack.

Sundays in Kids Ministry

As a reminder, weekly registration is required to attend on Sundays. Registration closes at noon Thursday or when classes have reached their maximum registration limit. You can register beginning Sunday after church for the next week on our website, championforest.org/kids.

Please Note: Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, Sunday, November 29th, registration will close at noon on Monday, November 23. So, be sure to signup up as soon as registration opens after church on Sunday, November 22.

If you registered for this Sunday, be on the lookout for your email! If you didn’t get a chance to register, we still want to encourage you to worship together as a family at one of our in person services or online!
