Do It Again

Do It Again (Champions)

“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

Waiting is hard.  It is not an easy task.  Right now we are surrounded by so many troubles and trial that we can lose sight of what the Lord is doing in our lives and how He is working.  Well….today we want to remind you that GOD is a FAITHFUL GOD!!!!  God will not fail you……His promises are true….He will never leave you….He has gone  before you.  We serve a God who has proven Himself time and time through  scripture and throughout our lives.  His plan may not be in our timing and it certainly may not be the way we thought things would work out.  Deuteronomy reminds us to …not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.  Put your faith in the knowledge that you are safe in His hands as He works all things out for good for those that are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).  Worship Him and Believe that He will get you through this trial or journey.  He has walked with you and pulled you through before and He will DO IT AGAIN.

Lyrics

Verse 1
Walking around these walls
I thought by now they’d fall
But You have never failed me yet

Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle’s won
For You have never failed me yet

Chorus
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness,
Faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence,
You’ve never failed me yet

Verse 2
I know the night won’t last
Your Word will come to pass
My heart will sing Your praise again
Jesus, You’re still enough
Keep me within Your love
My heart will sing Your praise again

Chorus
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness,
Faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence,
You’ve never failed me yet

Bridge
I’ve seen You move, come move the mountains
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again
You made a way, where there was no way
And I believe, I’ll see You do it again

Chorus
Your promise still stands
Great is Your faithfulness,
Faithfulness
I’m still in Your hands
This is my confidence,
You’ve never failed me yet

Kid Life Groups: September 6

Joshua and Caleb

Today children learn that disobedience has consequences. Ten of twelve men convinced the Israelites they could not take the land that God promised them. God’s consequences were severe—the people wandered for 40 years before God allowed the next generation to enter the land.

Review the Bible story with your child and discuss how the people disobeyed God. Emphasize that God still loved the people even though He had to discipline them. Remind your child God still loves her even when she disobeys.

Use these simple steps to guide your family during today’s Life Group time.

Step 1: Print Activity Pages

Print one for each child. This is a great tool to have as you go through the videos. Each download includes the Activity Page for your child and a One Conversation page for you to use with the Bible reference and story.

Step 2: Watch Bible Story Video

Before you press play, sit together and pray. Thank God for this special day to worship and learn about Him. Then, watch the Bible story video together.

3. Read & Discuss The Bible Story Together

Use the Activity Page and One Conversation Page you printed to read and discuss the Bible Story together. Select an activity and talk about how it goes along with the story.

Activities

Babies-Kinder

One’s & Two’s
Make People Collages
Gather: Magazine cutouts of people, construction paper, marker, glue stick.

  • Print across the bottom of construction paper, “God Loves People.”
  • Offer your child a glue stick and help him/her put glue on their construction paper.
  • Encourage your child to stick some of the people cutouts on his/her paper.
  • Talk about the lesson and read the weekly Bible verse to your child while he/she works.
  • Weekly verse is Jeremiah 31:3, God said, “I will always love you.”

Three’s – PreK
Count 12
Gather: Kids Activity Page, Bible, egg carton, 12-cup muffin pan (optional), pom-poms, manipulatives (items/toys that can be divided up into 12), tongs, crayons.

  • Open Bible to Numbers 13 and talk about the story. Remind your child that 12 men decided the land was good but only 2 wanted to obey God and live in the land. Look at the picture on the back of the Activity Page and talk more about the Bible story.
  • Guide your child to place pom-poms into the muffin cups. They can use the tongs or their fingers to move items into the muffin pan.
  • Remove one pom-pom from each muffin cup. Separate all the items into piles of 10 and 2. Recall that 10 of the men were afraid because of the sting people who lived there. Mention that because people chose to disobey God, they had to stay in the wilderness for 40 more years.
  • Say that God will always love him/her, even when he/she makes wrong choices.
  • Work on the Activity Page with your child.

Kindergarten
Go On A Scavenger Hunt
Gather: Kids Activity Page, list of items for child to find inside or outside, cardboard tube (optional), clipboard (optional), pencil.

  • Have your child complete the Kids Activity Page. Remind him/her that Moses sent 12 men to scout out the new land. Joshua and Caleb were 2 of the men sent.
  • Give your child a clipboard, pencil, and a cardboard tube. Tell them they can use their “telescopes” (tubes) to scout for items inside or outside.
  • Talk about the Bible story as your child reports back from their hunt. Say that 10 of the men did not want to go into the land, but Joshua and Caleb idd. The people listened to the other men and did not obey God, but God still loved the people and took care of them.
  • Say the weekly verse (Jer. 31:3, God said, I will always love you.”) and unit verse (Deut. 30:20, Love God and always do what He says.”) together.

1st-5th Grade

Bible Skills

  • Place the clothespins in a pile on the floor.
  • Instruct the kids to work together to put the books of the Old Testament in order by clipping the clothespins to the string.
  • Challenge the group to keep their Bibles closed until they place all the books in order.
  • When the kids complete the task, allow them to open their Bibles and check their work.
  • Guide kids to point out the “fictitious books” not used. Stress the importance of knowing exactly what is from God’s Word and what is not.

Find the Letter

  • Review the Bible story. Remind the boys and girls how Joshua and Caleb loved and respected God. They obeyed His commands even when everyone else chose not to obey. Ask: “How can we know how to obey God’s commands?”
  • Give each child a piece of paper. Review “Deuteronomy 30:20.” Choose a word from the verse and ask a volunteer to tell you the first letter of the word. Ask the volunteer to find an item or a picture of the item in the room that begins with the letter and bring it to the group. (Give hints if the child is having trouble finding something.)
  • Encourage the kids to write the first letter on their sheets of paper. ʹ Continue until the first word is complete. Ask the kids to give you a definition of the word and discuss what it means in the verse. Continue with other words as time allows.
  • Read “Deuteronomy 30:20” together. Explain that God expects people to obey, respect, and honor Him. God’s Word teaches us how to obey God and honor Him. When we study His Word and spend time in prayer, we learn more about God.

O.B.E.Y

  • Write each child’s name on the dry erase board (or poster board). Give the first child the beanbag. Explain that he can toss the beanbag into the bucket from anywhere behind the line. If the child makes the basket, he earns a letter of the word obey. If he misses, he does not receive a letter.
  • If the first child makes the basket, write the letter O beside his name. The next child has to toss the beanbag from the same location as the first child. Each child will receive an opportunity to toss from that location. (If the first child misses, the next child may choose a new location behind the line for the toss.)
  • On the next round, choose a different child to toss first. The first child to earn all of the letters for the word obey is the winner. Clear everyone’s letters off the board and start the game again, play as time allows.
  • Review what it means to obey.
  • Help the kids find Deuteronomy 30:20 in a Bible. Read the verse aloud. Remind the kids that when people do not obey God, there are consequences. God is always faithful, and His Word reminds us we should be faithful and obey God’s commands.
  • Pray, thanking God for always being there for us, and ask Him to help us obey His commands.

4. Missions Emphasis

  • Explain: “Sometimes, when we talk about missionaries, we do not think about missionaries who serve in the United States.”
  • Guide a volunteer to find Utah on the “Map of the United States.”
  • Invite kids to hear about a missionary who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
  • Show the missions video “A Vision for More,” or tell the missions story.
  • Pray and thank God for missionaries like Luis Soto who are telling people in the United States about the good news of Jesus.

5. Pray

  • Pray for each other that we always obey God and follow him.
  • Pray for our teachers and schools as we go back to school.
  • Pray for others that don’t know Jesus that they have an opportunity to learn about him.
  • Pray for our church.
