Preschool

God Created People
Today preschoolers learn that God made people. God created people differently than all His other creation. God formed the people with His hands. People were made in God’s image.

1st-5th Grade

Abram Solved a Quarrel
Today 1st-5th Graders learn that family members can work out differences. Abram and Lot decided to separate and go different ways in order to live peacefully.

Ask your child the following questions: “What are the benefits of getting along in our family? What could happen if I always get my way? How can you help people get along?” Help your child think about the answers to these questions.

Use these simple steps to guide your family during today’s Life Group time.

Step 1: Print Activity Pages

Print one for each child. This is a great tool to have as you go through the videos. Each download includes the Activity Page for your child and a One Conversation page for you to use with the Bible reference and story.

Step 2: Watch Bible Story Video

Before you press play, sit together and pray. Thank God for this special day to worship and learn about Him. Then, watch the Bible story video together.

Preschool Bible Story

3. Read & Discuss The Bible Story Together

Use the Activity Page and One Conversation Page you printed to read and discuss the Bible Story together. Select an activity and talk about how it goes along with the story.

Activities

Babies-Kinder

One’s & Two’s
Trace Hands And Make Fingerprints
Gather: White paper, marker, washable ink pad (or paint), wet wipes.

  • Ask your child to place his/her hand on a piece of paper and trace both hands.
  • Talk about how God made each of us special. Say the weekly verse, “I am wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14”
  • Demonstrate how to make fingerprints using the ink pad or paint. Assist your child to put a fingerprint on each traced finger.
  • Say: “I am glad God made you.” Allow child to continue making fingerprints on paper while you discuss how God made every one of us different and special.

Three’s – PreK
Enjoy A Sensory Garden
Gather: Kids Activity Page, Bible, large shallow container, small pebbles, small plants and flowers (can be real or artificial), small garden tools or plastic spoons and forks, crayons.

  • Assist your child in completing the Activity Page, comment that God made a man and a woman and placed them in the garden. Look at the picture on the back of the Activity Page.
  • Invite your child to create and enjoy a sensory garden using the provided materials. They can nestle the plants into the pebbles. They can drag the tools through the pebbles to create designs.
  • Help your child locate Genesis 2. Remark that God made the people. Recall how God created Adam and Eve different from everything else He made. Say that He made people able to think and make choices.
  • Pray and thank God for making people.

Kindergarten
Draw Self-Portraits
Gather: Kids Activity Page, paper, mirror, markers or crayons.

  • Help your child complete the Activity Page.
  • Print “I am wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14” at the top of the blank sheet of paper. Read the verse aloud. Tell your child that God made people, His most special creation of all.
  • Encourage your child to draw his/her self-portrait. He/she can look in the mirror to aid in drawing. Talk about hair color, eye color, and other features.
  • Tell the Bible story as they draw. Comment that God created people to make choices. Thank God for making people.

1st-5th Grade

Packing Game- Intro Activity

  • Find a small suitcase or bag with a zipper. Gather other items as well such as shirts, shoes, pillow, water bottle, shoes, etc.
  • Place suitcase on one side of the room and items on other.
  • On “Go” the kids are to bring items to the suitcase and pack them up, then zip up the suitcase/overnight bag. Hint: it should be impossible to zip, but let them struggle a bit trying to fit all items in suitcase/bag
  • End the game and ask “What is the problem?” (the suitcase is too small for everything)
  • Let them know that today they will hear about a problem that Abram had to solve.

Round & Round Game

  • Use paper, socks, pillows, something in your home to create a circle path (no beginning and no ending).
  • Your children can choose which marker they want to stand on. Ask them a question about today’s Bible Story.
  • If they answer correctly, they choose a number 1-5 and everyone moves around in the circle that many times.
  • After a few questions. Let them know that God wants them to live in peace with their family. And they should try to work out differences with family and not quarrel.

Promises of God

  • Have your children look up and read aloud verses Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 86:5, James 1:5, and Ephesians 3:16-19
  • Ask them to think about all the emotions Abram might have gone through. But he trusted God’s promises for him to be true. We can too!

Let’s Make a Deal

  • Get 10 index cards. Number them on one side 1-10. Mix up the cards, then on the other side write monetary amounts of $1, $5, $10, $50, $100, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, $100,000, $I,000,000
  • Place the index cards money value down and number 1-10 up.
  • Ask: What was the name of Abram’s relative in the story? (Lot)
  • First child to answer correctly chooses between 2 index cards that you randomly name. (ex. 5 & 8)
  • They get to grab the index card they chose. Reveal to them the index card they did not choose.
  • Continue to play asking more questions about the Bible story until you have no more index cards.
  • Let your kids know that sometimes we choose selfishly what we want, just like Lot did. Jesus wants us to get along with our family and be happy for them when they receive the better option.

4. Missions Emphasis

  • Explain that Umake means “the coast.” It also is a kids’ game from Mozambique.
  • Lead kids to find partners.
  • Distribute copies of the “Umake” gameboard and game pieces.
  • Guide kids to play the game according to the instructions on the gameboard.
  • Recap the missions story.

5. Pray

  • Ask God to help us live in peace with our families and with others.
  • Ask God to help us notice when we hurt others and ask for forgiveness.
  • Ask God to give us courage, wisdom, and strength to work out differences with family and others.
  • Ask God to help us give grace to others like He did for us.

Never Lost

Never Lost (Jersey Village)

Jersey Village Campus Choir and Worship Team

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

Do you remember the story of Jericho? When the people obeyed, God showed up and the walls fell. What about Lazarus? It may have seemed that Jesus arrived too late, but He had greater plans than healing. Jesus called out to Lazarus and his life returned!

In 2 Chronicles 20:15, the spirit of the Lord speaks to all of Israel through Jahaziel and says, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s.” When God calls us to action, the power of success is in His hands, not ours. So let that encourage you today.

Our Jersey Village Campus choir and worship team remind us with this song & testimonies that our God has not lost a battle. He gives us the strength we need to fight each day’s battles!

Lyrics

Verse 1
Miracles when You move
Such an easy thing for You to do
Your hand is moving right now
You are still showing up
At the tomb of every Lazarus
Your voice is calling me out

Pre Chorus
Right now, I know You’re able
My God, come through again

Chorus
You can do all things
You can do all things but fail
‘Cause You’ve never lost a battle
No, You’ve never lost a battle
And I know, I know You never will

Verse 3
Everything’s possible
By the power of the Holy Ghost
A new wind is blowing right now
Breaking my heart of stone
Taking over like it’s Jericho
And my walls are all crashing down

Pre Chorus
Right now, I know You’re able
My God, come through again

Chorus
You can do all things
You can do all things but fail
‘Cause You’ve never lost a battle
No, You’ve never lost a battle
And I know, I know You never will

Bridge
You’ve never lost a battle
You’ve never lost a battle
You’ve never lost a battle
You never will

Chorus
You can do all things
You can do all things but fail
‘Cause You’ve never lost a battle
No, You’ve never lost a battle
And I know, I know You never will

PSC Update 8.4.2020

The following is an update from the Pastor Search Committee.
August 4, 2020

The “publicized notification of the search for candidates” (both internal at Champion Forest Baptist Church and external) for the Senior Pastor Role at CFBC has now officially begun.

In the June 2020 Pastor Search  Committee(PSC) update to CFBC,  we reported that the PSC would  be asking the congregation and staff to take an important Church Survey.  That step has been completed.  In addition, we reported that we would be building an extensive Job Profile for our new Senior Pastor.  That step has also been completed.

So, the PSC, in conjunction with our consultant, Vanderbloemen, is now officially seeking candidates for the Senior Pastor Role at CFBC.

If you know of someone who could be qualified and interested, direct them to this link to be prayerfully considered.

Champion Forest Baptist Church—Senior Pastor Vanderbloemen Link

In the coming weeks, candidate names will be received by Vanderbloemen, and screening will be underway, and that process will ultimately yield Vanderbloemen’s recommendation to the Pastor Search Committee of potential candidates.  Please click here to see a flow chart of PSC Key Milestones which describes the entire process to find God’s man to be the new CFBC Senior Pastor.  You will be able to see the numerous steps that have already been completed and the several steps remaining.  You will know how to pray for the PSC by following our progress on this chart as our progress is periodically announced to you in our updates.

For sure, the PSC and the Vanderbloemen Search Group need the prayers of the congregation and staff.  Please pray specifically for the candidate identification and screening process that is now underway.

Thank you for your continual prayer support-

Champion (North Klein)

Caleb Bush and the North Klein Worship Team

“And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8: 30-31

Often times, we get held up in momentary things. We let the effects of our situations dictate our emotions and self-worth. Remember, you’ve been set apart by the transformative work displayed on the cross. We can live with confidence and victory because of our future glory.

Lyrics

Verse 1
I’ve tried so hard to see it
Took me so long to believe it
That You’d choose someone like me
To carry Your victory

Verse 2
Perfection could never earn it
You give what we don’t deserve and
You take the broken things
And raise them to glory

Chorus
You are my champion giants fall when You stand
Undefeated every battle You’ve won
I am who You say I am You crown me with confidence
I am seated in the heavenly place
Undefeated with the one who has conquered it all

Verse 3
Now I can finally see it
You’re teaching me how to receive it
So let all the striving cease
This is my victory

Chorus
You are my champion giants fall when You stand
Undefeated every battle You’ve won
I am who You say I am You crown me with confidence
I am seated in the heavenly place
Undefeated with the one who has conquered it all

Bridge
When I lift my voice and shout
Every wall comes crashing down
I have the authority
Jesus has given me
When I open up my mouth
Miracles start breaking out
I have the authority
Jesus has given me

Chorus
You are my champion giants fall when You stand
Undefeated every battle You’ve won
I am who You say I am You crown me with confidence
I am seated in the heavenly place
Undefeated by the pow’r of Your name
I am seated in the heavenly place
Undefeated with the one who has conquered it all

August Daily Discipleship Moments

It’s August!

Moms and Dads, It’s August! And even though we still aren’t quite sure what the world has in store, your most important job each day is STILL the spiritual nurturing of your children!

Kids are only little a few minutes, and time is precious. So, Moms, and Dads, start discipling your littles…raise them up to shine like stars in their generation, and to be warriors for Christ in a world that needs to know Him!

Disciple your child by following these two guides each day this month.
Preschool families – Use the Preschool “Minute to Win It” Discipleship calendar.
Elementary families – Use Daily Bible Reading.

Read the verses.
Do the activities.
Answer the questions.

Preschool Discipleship Calendar

The CFBC Preschool Ministry has designed some quickie ideas for you to use this summer as you disciple your preschoolers! Presented in calendar format, pop this on the refrigerator for easy access through the day…and use these ideas as you “teach them diligently (repeat them again and again) to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. (Deuteronomy 6:7)” Remember, children learn through repetition, so repeat, repeat repeat…again and again, multiple times a day!

The days are formatted by age, as follows, but many suggestions can be used for different age groups:

  • Sundays | Sundays at Home Life Group Lesson
  • Mondays | Baby Church
  • Tuesdays | Toddler Tidbits
  • Wednesdays | Hump Day Happies (for middle preschoolers)
  • Thursdays | Thursday Thoughts (for older preschoolers)
  • Fridays | Music Moments
  • Saturdays | How to Raise Spiritual Kids (parent ideas)

1st-5th Grade Daily Bible Reading

With Daily Bible Reading (DBR), your child will discover new and amazing things about God, Jesus and the Bible! Encourage your child to have a journal and write what they learn each day about God. Set a goal to spend time daily reading the Bible and praying with your child. Or encourage them to do so independently.

Use the following link for all Daily Bible Reading Plans and Posts.
