{"id":560,"date":"2020-05-10T00:10:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T05:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=560"},"modified":"2020-05-09T20:22:06","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T01:22:06","slug":"may-10-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/may-10-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"RHYTHM: DAY 21"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>May 10, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this psalm David expresses a broad range of\nemotions to the LORD: he celebrates God\u2019s deliverance, praises God for his\nholiness and wondrous works, proclaims God\u2019s salvation and faithfulness to\nothers, expresses sorrow for his sins, asks God to save him from his enemies,\nand rests in God as his help and deliverer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This psalm is an important reminder of a few key\ntruths. It reminds us that, when we remember the ways that God has moved in\npower on our behalf to bring about deliverance and salvation in the past, we\ncan have confidence that he will do the same for us both now <em>and<\/em> in the\nfuture! His grace and salvation towards us in the past guarantees his grace and\nsalvation towards us in the present and going forward!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>David remembered how God had saved him before\nand expressed confidence and trust in him to do it again. If God went to all\nthe trouble of doing that for us in the past, he isn\u2019t going to hold out on us\nand let us fall now!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another truth that this psalm reminds us of is\nthis: when we are excited about the mercy, grace, and salvation that God has\npoured out on us, we tell others about it! The LORD had moved in power on\nDavid\u2019s behalf, and he couldn\u2019t hold it in, he had to praise him to others! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deliverance David received was temporal;\nours is eternal. How much more should we be excited and ready to proclaim what\nGod has done for us in Jesus Christ!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-ff694af ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-ff694af-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-ff694af-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-ff694af-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-ff694af-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psalm 40<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Help and My Deliverer<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>1&nbsp;I&nbsp;waited patiently for the&nbsp;Lord;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;he inclined to me and&nbsp;heard my cry.<br><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>He drew me up from&nbsp;the pit of destruction,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;out of&nbsp;the miry bog,<br>and&nbsp;set my feet upon a rock,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;making my steps secure.<br><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>He put&nbsp;a new song in my mouth,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;a song of praise to our God.<br>Many will&nbsp;see and fear,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and put their trust in the&nbsp;Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>Blessed is the man who&nbsp;makes<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;his trust,<br>who does not turn to the proud,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;to those who&nbsp;go astray after a lie!<br><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>You have multiplied, O&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;my God,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;your&nbsp;wondrous deeds and your&nbsp;thoughts toward us;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;none can compare with you!<br>I will proclaim and tell of them,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;yet they are&nbsp;more than can be told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;but you have given me an open&nbsp;ear.<br>Burnt offering and sin offering<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you have not required.<br><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Then I said, \u201cBehold, I have come;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;in the scroll of the book it is written&nbsp;of me:<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>I delight to do your will, O my God;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;your law is&nbsp;within my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>I have told the glad news of deliverance<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;in&nbsp;the great congregation;<br>behold, I have not&nbsp;restrained my lips,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;as you know, O&nbsp;Lord.<br><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;<br>I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;from the great congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>As for you, O&nbsp;Lord, you will not restrain<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;your mercy from me;<br>your&nbsp;steadfast love and your faithfulness will<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;ever preserve me!<br><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>For evils have&nbsp;encompassed me<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;beyond number;<br>my&nbsp;iniquities have overtaken me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and I cannot&nbsp;see;<br>they are&nbsp;more than the hairs of my head;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;my heart&nbsp;fails me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>Be pleased, O&nbsp;Lord, to&nbsp;deliver me!<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;O&nbsp;Lord,&nbsp;make haste to help me!<br><sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who seek to snatch away my life;<br>let those be&nbsp;turned back and brought to dishonor<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who delight in my hurt!<br><sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>Let those be appalled because of their shame<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who&nbsp;say to me, \u201cAha, Aha!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>But may all who seek you<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;rejoice and be glad in you;<br>may those who love your salvation<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;say continually, \u201cGreat is the&nbsp;Lord!\u201d<br><sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>As for me, I am&nbsp;poor and needy,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;but&nbsp;the Lord takes thought for me.<br>You are my help and my deliverer;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;do not delay, O my God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ededed\" class=\"has-background\">The Holy Bible, English Standard Version\u00ae (ESV\u00ae), copyright \u00a9 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-divider ugb-divider ugb-bbc4a82 ugb-divider--v2 ugb-divider--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-bbc4a82 hr.ugb-divider__hr{background-color:#dddddd !important;height:1px !important;width:50% !important;margin-left:auto !important;margin-right:auto !important}.ugb-bbc4a82 .ugb-inner-block{text-align:center}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><hr class=\"ugb-divider__hr\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prayer<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Heavenly Father, I thank you and I praise you that you hear us when we cry out to you! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">You have rescued, restored, redeemed and renewed me in and through Jesus Christ, and I cannot hold it in!
