{"id":558,"date":"2020-05-09T00:10:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-09T05:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=558"},"modified":"2020-05-01T11:28:57","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T16:28:57","slug":"may-9-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/may-9-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"RHYTHM: DAY 20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>May 9, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Psalm 38 is a psalm of confession, repentance,\nand petition. David describes the sorrow, pain, and suffering he is\nexperiencing as a result of his sins in vivid and descriptive detail! He has\nbeen brought low through conviction over his sins, and his enemies want to\ncapitalize on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In spite of his suffering and sorrow, David\ncontinues to place his hope and confidence in the Lord for salvation from his\nenemies. He confesses his sin and turns from it in repentance (v.18), and then\ncries out to the Lord for deliverance from those who seek his downfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This psalm demonstrated that, even in the midst\nof our own propensity to sin and fall short of God\u2019s glory, we are not beyond\nthe reach of God\u2019s grace and compassion! David knew well the richness of God\u2019s\nmercy, and because of that he was able to cry out to him for both pardon and\ndeliverance in spite of the weight of conviction which he felt! We can do the\nsame today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-a83cdad ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-a83cdad-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-a83cdad-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-a83cdad-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-a83cdad-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psalm 38<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do Not Forsake Me, O&nbsp;Lord<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Psalm of David,&nbsp;for the memorial offering.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>1&nbsp;O&nbsp;Lord,&nbsp;rebuke me not in your anger,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;nor discipline me in your wrath!<br><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>For your&nbsp;arrows have sunk into me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and your hand&nbsp;has come down on me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>There is&nbsp;no soundness in my flesh<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;because of your indignation;<br>there is no health in my&nbsp;bones<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;because of my sin.<br><sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>For my&nbsp;iniquities have gone over my head;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>My wounds stink and fester<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;because of my foolishness,<br><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>I am&nbsp;utterly bowed down and&nbsp;prostrate;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;all the day I&nbsp;go about mourning.<br><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>For my sides are filled with burning,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and there is&nbsp;no soundness in my flesh.<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>I am feeble and crushed;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;groan because of the tumult of my heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>O Lord, all my longing is before you;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;my&nbsp;sighing is not hidden from you.<br><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>My heart throbs; my strength fails me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and&nbsp;the light of my eyes\u2014it also has gone from me.<br><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>My&nbsp;friends and companions&nbsp;stand aloof from my&nbsp;plague,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and my nearest kin&nbsp;stand far off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>Those who seek my life&nbsp;lay their snares;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;those who seek my hurt&nbsp;speak of ruin<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and meditate&nbsp;treachery all day long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>But I am like a deaf man; Even now that I have been rescued and redeemed by your Son and am being sanctified by your Spirit, I still continue to give evidence of my desperate need for a Savior each and every day through my sin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">I pray that, like David, you would lead me to deep seated conviction whenever I sin against you, and that your conviction would lead me to swift repentance and restoration!
