{"id":550,"date":"2020-04-29T00:10:04","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T05:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=550"},"modified":"2020-04-26T19:58:05","modified_gmt":"2020-04-27T00:58:05","slug":"april-29-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/april-29-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"RHYTHM: DAY 10"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>April 29, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Psalm 22 is not only the experience of every\nbeliever, but it is also a very specific prophecy of the sufferings of\nJesus.&nbsp;It begins with the most anguished cry in human&nbsp;history, \u201cMy\nGod, My God, why have you forsaken me?\u201d&nbsp;Jesus spoke these words at the\ndepth of His suffering on the cross.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We may have thought this cry was unique to Him,\nbut Jesus was actually quoting&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/biblia.com\/bible\/esv\/Psalm%2022.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Psalm 22:1<\/a>, where we see these\nwords&nbsp;first uttered by the psalmist, speaking for all of God\u2019s people who\nstruggle over and over in the flesh with a sense of being forsaken by God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we express our sadness and feelings of\nforsakenness to God, we \u201clament\u201d. This psalm is indeed a lament, but teaches us\na follow up in talking to God. The psalmist switches from expressing his great\nsadness to remembering his great God, a God who is holy and sovereign, a God\nwho rescues His people!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Agonized prayer and hopelessness turn to\nardent praise for the success of the cause of God!&nbsp;Failure is swallowed up\nin victory, and victory is celebrated in a worldwide kingdom, among the nations.\nAnd best of all, continuance is woven into our stories \u2013 <em>it shall be told to\nthe next generation, to a people yet unborn<\/em>.&nbsp;What a great God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-f16b2e6 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-f16b2e6-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-f16b2e6-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-f16b2e6-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-f16b2e6-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psalm 22<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Have You Forsaken Me?<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>22&nbsp;<\/strong>My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Why are you so&nbsp;far from saving me, from the words of my&nbsp;groaning?<br><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>O my God, I cry by&nbsp;day, but you do not answer,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and by night, but I find no rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Yet you are\u00a0holy,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0enthroned on\u00a0the praises\u00a0of Israel.<br><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>In you our fathers trusted;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they trusted, and you delivered them.<br><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>To you they\u00a0cried and were rescued;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in you they\u00a0trusted and were not put to shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>But I am&nbsp;a worm and not a man,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;scorned by mankind and&nbsp;despised by the people.<br><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>All who see me&nbsp;mock me;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;they make mouths at me; they&nbsp;wag their heads;<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cHe trusts in the&nbsp;Lord; let him&nbsp;deliver him;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;let him rescue him, for he&nbsp;delights in him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>Yet you are he who&nbsp;took me from the womb;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you made me trust you at my mother&#8217;s breasts.<br><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>On you was I cast from my birth,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and from&nbsp;my mother&#8217;s womb you have been my God.<br><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>Be not&nbsp;far from me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;for trouble is near,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and there is&nbsp;none to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>Many bulls encompass me;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;strong bulls of&nbsp;Bashan surround me;<br><sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>they&nbsp;open wide their mouths at me,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;like a ravening and roaring lion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>I am&nbsp;poured out like water,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and all my bones are&nbsp;out of joint;<br>my&nbsp;heart is like&nbsp;wax;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;it is melted within my breast;<br><sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>my strength is&nbsp;dried up like a potsherd,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and my&nbsp;tongue sticks to my jaws;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you lay me in the dust of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0dogs encompass me;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a company of evildoers\u00a0encircles me;<br>they have\u00a0pierced my hands and feet\u2014<br><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>I can count all my bones\u2014<br>they\u00a0stare and gloat over me;<br><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>they divide my garments among them,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and for my clothing they cast lots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>But you, O\u00a0Lord,\u00a0do not be far off!<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0O you my help,\u00a0come quickly to my aid!<br><sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Deliver my soul from the sword,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0my precious life from the power of\u00a0the dog!<br><sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Save me from\u00a0the mouth of the lion!<br>You have rescued\u00a0me from the horns of\u00a0the wild oxen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>I will tell of your name to my&nbsp;brothers;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;in the midst of the congregation I will praise you:<br><sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>You who&nbsp;fear the&nbsp;Lord, praise him!<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;All you offspring of Jacob,&nbsp;glorify him,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!<br><sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>For he has not despised or abhorred<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the affliction of&nbsp;the afflicted,<br>and he has not&nbsp;hidden his face from him,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;but has heard, when he&nbsp;cried to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>From you comes my praise in the great\u00a0congregation;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0my\u00a0vows I will\u00a0perform before those who fear him.<br><sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>The afflicted\u00a0shall\u00a0eat and be satisfied;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0those who seek him shall praise the\u00a0Lord!<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0May your hearts\u00a0live forever!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>All&nbsp;the ends of the earth shall remember<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and turn to the&nbsp;Lord,<br>and all&nbsp;the families of the nations<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;shall worship before you.<br><sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;kingship belongs to the&nbsp;Lord,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and he rules over the nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>All&nbsp;the prosperous of the earth eat and worship;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;before him shall&nbsp;bow all who go down to the dust,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;even the one who could not&nbsp;keep himself alive.<br><sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>Posterity shall serve him;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;it shall be told of the Lord to the coming&nbsp;generation;<br><sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>they shall&nbsp;come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet&nbsp;unborn,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;that he has done it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p We know that you care for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">But sometimes we feel so\nalone. Sometimes we don\u2019t know where you are. Be present in our lives. We need\nyou. Help us live in assurance that You <em>are<\/em> here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">We also know you are a great\nGod. You are the Ruler of all.&nbsp;You do not despise those who seek You.
