{"id":539,"date":"2020-04-25T00:10:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T05:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=539"},"modified":"2020-04-22T10:23:19","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T15:23:19","slug":"april-25-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/april-25-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"RHYTHM: DAY 6"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>April 25, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It makes all the difference when\nyou take refuge in God alone, doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Psalm begins with a petition.\nDavid is simply asking God to \u201cKeep me safe.\u201d During this pandemic, it seems\nlike this prayer is on a lot of our lips! Yet the psalmist does not look to\nanything or anyone but God alone for safety. He trusts Him fully for his safety\nas seen in verses 2-4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In verses 5\u20136 the psalmist\naddresses the Lord himself as his true, spiritual inheritance and credits him\nwith good gifts in life. David\u2019s\nlife was blessed, and he realized he had a delightful earthly inheritance;\nhowever, David recognized that no earthly inheritance was greater than his\nspiritual inheritance which was his relationship with God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next stanza of the\npsalm, verses 7\u20138, shows us the natural result of turning to God and trusting\nhim for our needs: praise! This praise is met with affirmation that God will\nnot abandon His followers.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the Psalm\nconcludes with the psalmist\u2019s joy and the confidence that the Lord will protect\nhim from death. This shows us how awareness of God\u2019s presence brings both\ndirection in this life and hope for all eternity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Psalm 16 is an ancient hymn of\nConfidence in the Lord and early Christian communities applied it to the\nresurrection of Christ. Peter and Paul (Acts 2:25\u201328; 13:35) extend this\ninterpretation to Jesus, the ultimate Davidic heir in whom the psalm is\nfulfilled!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today Psalm 16 can show us that we\ncan experience joy in God\u2019s presence and catch a glimpse of our salvation as\neternal life.&nbsp; Read Psalm 16 and take\nrefuge in the Lord alone: ask Him to keep you safe, and continually proclaim\nthe joy of your salvation!&nbsp; It <em>will<\/em>\nmake all the difference in your life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-179ff30 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-179ff30-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-179ff30-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-179ff30-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-179ff30-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Psalm 16<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Will Not Abandon My Soul<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A\u00a0Miktam\u00a0of David.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I\u00a0take refuge.<br><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>I say to the\u00a0Lord, \u201cYou are my Lord;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I have no good apart from you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>As for\u00a0the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in whom is all my delight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>The sorrows of those who run after\u00a0another god shall multiply;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0or\u00a0take their names on my lips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>The&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;is&nbsp;my chosen portion and my&nbsp;cup;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you hold my&nbsp;lot.<br><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>I bless the\u00a0Lord\u00a0who\u00a0gives me counsel;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in\u00a0the night also my\u00a0heart instructs me.<br><sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>I have\u00a0set the\u00a0Lord\u00a0always before me;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0because he is at my\u00a0right hand, I shall not be\u00a0shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore my heart is glad, and my\u00a0whole being\u00a0rejoices;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0my flesh also dwells secure.<br><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>For you will not abandon my soul to\u00a0Sheol,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0or let your\u00a0holy one see\u00a0corruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>You make known to me&nbsp;the path of life;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;in your presence there is&nbsp;fullness of joy;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;at your right hand are&nbsp;pleasures forevermore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ededed\" class=\"has-background\">The Holy Bible, English Standard Version\u00ae (ESV\u00ae), copyright \u00a9 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-divider ugb-divider ugb-be9fe09 ugb-divider--v2 ugb-divider--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-be9fe09 hr.ugb-divider__hr{background-color:#dddddd !important;height:1px !important;width:50% !important;margin-left:auto !important;margin-right:auto !important}.ugb-be9fe09 .ugb-inner-block{text-align:center}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><hr class=\"ugb-divider__hr\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prayer<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Father I thank you for loving me and sending your son Jesus to pay the price for my sins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Thank you for giving me eternal life through trusting and believing in Jesus.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Father help me to remember I can take refuge in you and give me the confidence and strength to follow you daily.
