Though, we speculate it is because of the&nbsp;<em>goodness<\/em>&nbsp;of the work of Jesus on the cross. What a paradox. It feels illogical to write that crucifixion is&nbsp;<em>good<\/em>.&nbsp;<strong>Feel the weight of Jesus\u2019 work on the cross as you read today, knowing that \u201cit was my sin that held him there, until it was accomplished\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-5ac1ced ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-5ac1ced-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-5ac1ced-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-5ac1ced-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-5ac1ced-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John  19:1-37<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Delivered to Be Crucified<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>1&nbsp;Then Pilate took Jesus and&nbsp;flogged him.&nbsp;<sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe.&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>They came up to him, saying, \u201cHail, King of the Jews!\u201d and struck him with their hands.&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>Pilate went out again and said to them, \u201cSee, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that&nbsp;I find no guilt in him.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>So Jesus came out, wearing&nbsp;the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them,&nbsp;\u201cBehold the man!\u201d&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, \u201cCrucify him, crucify him!\u201d Pilate said to them,&nbsp;\u201cTake him yourselves and crucify him, for&nbsp;I find no guilt in him.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>The Jews&nbsp;answered him, \u201cWe have a law, and&nbsp;according to that law he ought to die because&nbsp;he has made himself the Son of God.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>When Pilate heard this statement,&nbsp;he was even more afraid.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus,&nbsp;\u201cWhere are you from?\u201d But&nbsp;Jesus gave him no answer.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>So Pilate said to him, \u201cYou will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus answered him,&nbsp;\u201cYou would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore&nbsp;he who delivered me over to you&nbsp;has the greater sin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>From then on&nbsp;Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, \u201cIf you release this man, you are not Caesar&#8217;s friend.&nbsp;Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>So when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on&nbsp;the judgment seat at a place called The Stone Pavement, and in Aramaic&nbsp;Gabbatha.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>Now it was&nbsp;the day of Preparation of the Passover. It was about the sixth hour.&nbsp;He said to the Jews,&nbsp;\u201cBehold your King!\u201d&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>They cried out,&nbsp;\u201cAway with him, away with him, crucify him!\u201d Pilate said to them, \u201cShall I crucify your King?\u201d The chief priests answered, \u201cWe have no king but Caesar.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>So he&nbsp;delivered him over to them to be crucified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Crucifixion<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>So they took Jesus,&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>and&nbsp;he went out,&nbsp;bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them.&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>Pilate&nbsp;also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, \u201cJesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Many of the Jews read this inscription, for&nbsp;the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, in Latin, and in Greek.&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, \u201cDo not write, \u2018The King of the Jews,\u2019 but rather, \u2018This man said, I am King of the Jews.\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>Pilate answered,&nbsp;\u201cWhat I have written I have written.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic.&nbsp;But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom,&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>so they said to one another, \u201cLet us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.\u201d&nbsp;This was to fulfill the Scripture which says,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey divided my garments among them,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and for my clothing they cast lots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the soldiers did these things,&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>but standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother&#8217;s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>When Jesus saw his mother and&nbsp;the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother,&nbsp;\u201cWoman, behold, your son!\u201d&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he said to the disciple,&nbsp;\u201cBehold, your mother!\u201d&nbsp;And from that hour the disciple took her to&nbsp;his own home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Death of Jesus<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now&nbsp;finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture),&nbsp;\u201cI thirst.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>A jar full of sour wine stood there,&nbsp;so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.&nbsp;<sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said,&nbsp;\u201cIt is finished,\u201d&nbsp;and he bowed his head and&nbsp;gave up his spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus&#8217; Side Is Pierced<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>Since it was&nbsp;the day of Preparation, and&nbsp;so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was&nbsp;a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.&nbsp;<sup>32&nbsp;<\/sup>So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other&nbsp;who had been crucified with him.&nbsp;<sup>33&nbsp;<\/sup>But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.&nbsp;<sup>34&nbsp;<\/sup>But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out&nbsp;blood and water.&nbsp;<sup>35&nbsp;<\/sup>He who saw it has borne witness\u2014his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth\u2014that you also may believe.&nbsp;<sup>36&nbsp;<\/sup>For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled:&nbsp;\u201cNot one of his bones&nbsp;will be broken.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>37&nbsp;<\/sup>And again another Scripture says,&nbsp;\u201cThey will look on him whom they have pierced.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ededed\" class=\"has-background\">The Holy Bible, English Standard Version\u00ae (ESV\u00ae), copyright \u00a9 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-divider ugb-divider ugb-3de30c2 ugb-divider--v2 ugb-divider--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-3de30c2 hr.ugb-divider__hr{background-color:#dddddd !important;height:1px !important;width:50% !important;margin-left:auto !important;margin-right:auto !important}.ugb-3de30c2 .ugb-inner-block{text-align:center}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><hr class=\"ugb-divider__hr\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spend time meditating on Jesus\u2019 work on the cross.
