Remember, this meal spans chapters 13-17 in John. Traditionally, this Thursday is known as \u201cMaundy Thursday\u201d or \u201cHoly Thursday<strong>\u201d. \u201cMaundy\u201d comes from the Latin word meaning \u201ccommandment\u201d. This is because of the&nbsp;<em>new commandment<\/em>&nbsp;Jesus gives his disciples<\/strong>&nbsp;which we will read today. Keep in mind the context of the gathered disciples and Jesus\u2019 impending betrayal and death as you read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-4ebc1d9 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-4ebc1d9-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-4ebc1d9-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-4ebc1d9-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-4ebc1d9-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John  13:21-35<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One of You Will Betray Me<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>After saying these things,&nbsp;Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified,&nbsp;\u201cTruly, truly, I say to you,&nbsp;one of you will betray me.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke.&nbsp;<sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table&nbsp;at Jesus&#8217; side,&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus&nbsp;of whom he was speaking.&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>So that disciple,&nbsp;leaning back against Jesus, said to him, \u201cLord, who is it?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus answered,&nbsp;\u201cIt is he to whom I will give this morsel of bread&nbsp;when I have dipped it.\u201d&nbsp;So when he had dipped the morsel,&nbsp;he gave it to Judas,&nbsp;the son of Simon Iscariot.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>Then after he had taken the morsel,&nbsp;Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him,&nbsp;\u201cWhat you are going to do, do quickly.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him.&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>Some thought that,&nbsp;because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, \u201cBuy what we need&nbsp;for the feast,\u201d or that he should&nbsp;give something to the poor.&nbsp;<sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out.&nbsp;And it was night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A New Commandment<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>When he had gone out, Jesus said,&nbsp;\u201cNow is the Son of Man glorified, and&nbsp;God is glorified in him.&nbsp;<sup>32&nbsp;<\/sup>If God is glorified in him,&nbsp;God will also glorify him in himself, and&nbsp;glorify him at once.&nbsp;<sup>33&nbsp;<\/sup>Little children,&nbsp;yet a little while I am with you. He even goes so far as to say that&nbsp;<em>all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one another<\/em>. For us, as disciples of Jesus&nbsp;<em>today<\/em>, the command still stands. To&nbsp;<em>love one another<\/em>&nbsp;is our call from Jesus<em>.
