In the Gospel of John chapters 13-17 make up what is known as the \u201cfarewell narrative\u201d. Far more attention is given to this week of Jesus\u2019 life in the gospel of John than any of the other gospels. We encourage you to&nbsp;<strong>spend time praying and meditating on these chapters throughout the week<\/strong>. For today we\u2019ll look a well-known scene of&nbsp;<strong>Jesus washing His disciples feet<\/strong>. As you read, consider the context and scope of Jesus\u2019 life.&nbsp;<strong>With his crucifixion imminent, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples thereby proving His love and devotion to the Father and His people.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-f02b4e8 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-f02b4e8-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-f02b4e8-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-f02b4e8-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-f02b4e8-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">John  13:1-20<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Washes the Disciples&#8217; Feet<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Now&nbsp;before&nbsp;the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that&nbsp;his hour had come&nbsp;to depart out of this world to the Father,&nbsp;having loved&nbsp;his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.&nbsp;<sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>During supper, when&nbsp;the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon&#8217;s son, to betray him,&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus, knowing&nbsp;that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that&nbsp;he had come from God and&nbsp;was going back to God,&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel,&nbsp;tied it around his waist.&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he&nbsp;poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples&#8217; feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, \u201cLord, do you wash my feet?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus answered him,&nbsp;\u201cWhat I am doing&nbsp;you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>Peter said to him, \u201cYou shall never wash my feet.\u201d Jesus answered him,&nbsp;\u201cIf I do not wash you, you have no share with me.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>Simon Peter said to him, \u201cLord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!\u201d&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said to him,&nbsp;\u201cThe one who has bathed does not need to wash,&nbsp;except for his feet,&nbsp;but is completely clean. And&nbsp;you&nbsp;are clean,&nbsp;but not every one of you.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said,&nbsp;\u201cNot all of you are clean.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>When he had washed their feet and&nbsp;put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cDo you understand what I have done to you?&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>You call me&nbsp;Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,&nbsp;you also ought to wash one another&#8217;s feet.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>For I have given you an example,&nbsp;that you also should do just as I have done to you.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>Truly, truly, I say to you,&nbsp;a servant&nbsp;is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>If you know these things,&nbsp;blessed are you if you do them.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>I am not speaking of all of you; I know&nbsp;whom I have chosen.
