Not only did we get a short week of school, but I got to decorate Easter baskets and hunt for colored plastic eggs filled with chocolate and all sorts of candy. I knew that Easter had something to do with Jesus\u2019 death but at that time, I did not fully understand what it all really meant. After I gave my life to Jesus, Easter took on a different meaning. I realized that it\u2019s importance was not on the baskets, candy, or long weekends at home. The importance of Easter was and is found in the greatest and most important event in humanity\u2019s history. Jesus was not in the tomb. He had resurrected from the dead!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-755c638 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-755c638-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-755c638-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-755c638-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-755c638-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-755c638-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mark 16<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Resurrection<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>1&nbsp;When the Sabbath was past,&nbsp;Mary Magdalene,&nbsp;Mary the mother of James, and&nbsp;Salome&nbsp;bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.&nbsp;<sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>And they were saying to one another, \u201cWho will roll away&nbsp;the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back\u2014it was very large.&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side,&nbsp;dressed in&nbsp;a white robe, and&nbsp;they were alarmed.&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cDo not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>But go, tell his disciples and Peter that&nbsp;he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him,&nbsp;just as he told you.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[Some of the earliest manuscripts do not include 16:9\u201320.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>[[Now when he rose early on the first day of the week,&nbsp;he appeared first to&nbsp;Mary Magdalene,&nbsp;from whom he had cast out seven demons.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>She went and told those who had been with him,&nbsp;as they&nbsp;mourned and wept.&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they&nbsp;would not believe it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Appears to Two Disciples<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>After these things&nbsp;he appeared in&nbsp;another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Great Commission<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>Afterward&nbsp;he appeared&nbsp;to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their&nbsp;unbelief and&nbsp;hardness of heart, because&nbsp;they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cGo into all the world and&nbsp;proclaim the gospel to&nbsp;the whole creation.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>Whoever believes and is&nbsp;baptized&nbsp;will be saved, but&nbsp;whoever&nbsp;does not believe will be condemned.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;these signs will accompany those who believe:&nbsp;in my name they will cast out demons;&nbsp;they will speak in new tongues;&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them;&nbsp;they will lay their hands&nbsp;on the sick, and they will recover.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>So then the Lord Jesus,&nbsp;after he had spoken to them,&nbsp;was taken up into heaven and&nbsp;sat down at the right hand of God.&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>And they went out and preached everywhere, while&nbsp;the Lord worked with them and confirmed&nbsp;the message&nbsp;by accompanying signs.]]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ededed\" class=\"has-background\">The Holy Bible, English Standard Version\u00ae (ESV\u00ae), copyright \u00a9 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-divider ugb-divider ugb-97129c0 ugb-divider--v2 ugb-divider--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-97129c0 hr.ugb-divider__hr{background-color:#dddddd !important;height:1px !important;width:50% !important;margin-left:auto !important;margin-right:auto !important}.ugb-97129c0 .ugb-inner-block{text-align:center}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><hr class=\"ugb-divider__hr\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus is not dead, he is alive! This fact brought forth\nchange. For the church, it changed the day of worship from the Sabbath to\nSunday. For the disciples, it brought a radical change giving them new power\nand courage to be faithful until their death. For sin it brought defeat, and\nfor the sinner it brought victory, hope, and purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\n<strong><sup>55&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>\u201cO death, where is your victory?<br>\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;O death, where is your sting?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><sup>56&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>The sting of death is sin,\nand&nbsp;the power of sin is the law.&nbsp;<strong><sup>57&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>But thanks\nbe to God,&nbsp;who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><sup>58&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong>Therefore, my beloved brothers, be\nsteadfast, immovable, always abounding in&nbsp;the work of the Lord, knowing\nthat in the Lord&nbsp;your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:55-58)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we look towards this Easter weekend, let us not take for\ngranted the significance of our Lord\u2019s death, burial, and resurrection. Let us\ncelebrate His victory over sin with our families and may we never forget that\nevery Sunday is a resurrection Sunday.
