{"id":304,"date":"2020-03-24T01:00:03","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T07:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=304"},"modified":"2020-03-24T22:26:20","modified_gmt":"2020-03-25T04:26:20","slug":"mark-march-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/mark-march-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Chapter 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Day 3:<\/strong> <em>March 24, 2020<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Mark chapter 3 we see Jesus continuing to heal and work on the Sabbath day in defiance of the religious leaders of his time (v.1-6). Great crowds begin to follow him, of whom he selects 12 to go everywhere with him as his apostles (v.7-21). He silences the accusations of the religious leaders that his power was of demonic nature rather than from God (v.22-30) and states that his true family are not those who are biologically related to him but those who do the will of God (v.31-35). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the beginning of the passage Mark tells us that Jesus was angry and grieved at the hardness of heart which the Pharisees displayed towards the man with the withered hand. <strong>Jesus calls us to be full of compassion and love for people at all times!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-27d8007 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-27d8007-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-27d8007-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-27d8007-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-27d8007-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mark 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Man with a Withered Hand<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Again&nbsp;he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand.&nbsp;<sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;they watched Jesus,&nbsp;to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to the man with the withered hand,&nbsp;\u201cCome here.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cIs it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?\u201d&nbsp;But they were silent.&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>And he&nbsp;looked around at them with anger, grieved at&nbsp;their hardness of heart, and said to the man,&nbsp;\u201cStretch out your hand.\u201d&nbsp;He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>The Pharisees went out and immediately&nbsp;held counsel with&nbsp;the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Great Crowd Follows Jesus<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and&nbsp;a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>and Jerusalem and&nbsp;Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around&nbsp;Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And he told his disciples to&nbsp;have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they&nbsp;crush him,&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>for&nbsp;he had healed many, so that all who had&nbsp;diseases pressed around him&nbsp;to touch him.&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they&nbsp;fell down before him and cried out, \u201cYou are&nbsp;the Son of God.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;he strictly ordered them not to make him known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Twelve Apostles<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>And he went up on the mountain and called to him those&nbsp;whom he desired, and they came to him.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>and have authority to cast out demons.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>He appointed the twelve:&nbsp;Simon (to whom&nbsp;he gave the name Peter);&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and&nbsp;Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot,&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he went&nbsp;home, and the crowd gathered again,&nbsp;so that they could not even eat.&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>And when&nbsp;his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, \u201cHe&nbsp;is out of his mind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying,&nbsp;\u201cHe is possessed by Beelzebul,\u201d and \u201cby the prince of demons he casts out the demons.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>And he called them to him and said to them in parables,&nbsp;\u201cHow can Satan cast out Satan?&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>But&nbsp;no one can enter a strong man&#8217;s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man.&nbsp;Then indeed he may plunder his house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cTruly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter,&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>but whoever&nbsp;blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin\u201d\u2014&nbsp;<sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>for they were saying, \u201cHe has an unclean spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus&#8217;
