If it were not so, would I have told you that\u00a0I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you\u00a0to myself, that\u00a0where I am you may be also.\u00a0And you know the way to where I am going.&#8221; Thomas said to him, \u201cLord,\u00a0we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?&#8221; Jesus said to him,\u00a0\u201cI am\u00a0the way, and\u00a0the truth, and\u00a0the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have\u00a0known my Father also.\u00a0\u00a0From now on you do know him and\u00a0have seen him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Philip said to him, \u201cLord,\u00a0show us the Father, and it is enough for us.&#8221; Jesus said to him,\u00a0\u201cHave I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip?\u00a0Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, \u2018Show us the Father&#8217;? Do you not believe that\u00a0I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you\u00a0I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that\u00a0I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else\u00a0believe on account of the works themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTruly, truly, I say to you,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that\u00a0the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me\u00a0\u00a0anything in my name, I will do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you love me, you will\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another\u00a0Helper,\u00a0\u00a0to be with you forever, even\u00a0the Spirit of truth,\u00a0whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and\u00a0will be\u00a0\u00a0in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will not leave you as orphans;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but\u00a0you will see me.\u00a0Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that\u00a0I am in my Father, and\u00a0you in me, and\u00a0I in you. Whoever has my commandments and\u00a0keeps them, he it is who loves me. And\u00a0he who loves me\u00a0will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and\u00a0manifest myself to him.&#8221; Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, \u201cLord, how is it\u00a0that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?\u201d\u00a0Jesus answered him,\u00a0\u201cIf anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and\u00a0we will come to him and\u00a0make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And\u00a0the word that you hear is not mine but the Father\u2019s who sent me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the\u00a0Helper, the Holy Spirit,\u00a0whom the Father will send in my name,\u00a0he will teach you all things and\u00a0bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you;\u00a0my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.\u00a0Let not your hearts be troubled, neither\u00a0let them be afraid. You heard me say to you,\u00a0\u2018I am going away, and I will come to you.\u2019 If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I\u00a0am going to the Father, for\u00a0the Father is greater than I. And\u00a0now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for\u00a0the ruler of this world is coming.\u00a0He has no claim on me, but I do\u00a0as the Father has commanded me,\u00a0so that the world may know that I love the Father. Worry is a habit, and like any habit, it can be unlearned. It\u2019s time to take the first step toward freedom!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That first step is recognizing that God is in control. When Jesus told His disciples that His time on earth was ending, He reassured them: <em>\u201cLet not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me\u201d<\/em> (v. 1). These words remind us that even in uncertainty, we can place our full trust in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus further assured them by declaring: <em>\u201cI am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me\u201d<\/em> (v. 6). This truth is a foundation of hope\u2014Christ is enough. He leads us to God, reveals the truth that liberates us, and grants us eternal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also promised His disciples that they would never be alone. The Holy Spirit, our Comforter, would come and remain with us forever (v. 16). This promise gives us peace and direction, reminding us that God is with us at every step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where do you need to trust Jesus more? Embrace His words: <em>\u201cPeace I leave with you; my peace I give to you\u201d<\/em> (v. 27).
