Come, see the place where he&nbsp;lay.&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold,&nbsp;he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>So they departed quickly from the tomb&nbsp;with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And behold, Jesus&nbsp;met them and said,&nbsp;\u201cGreetings!\u201d&nbsp;And they came up and&nbsp;took hold of his feet and&nbsp;worshiped him.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Then Jesus said to them,&nbsp;\u201cDo not be afraid;&nbsp;go and tell&nbsp;my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Report of the Guard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>While they were going, behold, some of&nbsp;the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>and said, \u201cTell people,&nbsp;\u2018His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>And if this comes to&nbsp;the governor&#8217;s ears, we will&nbsp;satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews&nbsp;to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Great Commission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>Now the eleven disciples&nbsp;went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>And when they saw him they&nbsp;worshiped him, but some doubted.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>And Jesus came and said to them,&nbsp;\u201cAll authority&nbsp;in heaven and on earth has been given to me.&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>Go therefore and&nbsp;make disciples of&nbsp;all nations,&nbsp;baptizing them&nbsp;in&nbsp;the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>teaching them&nbsp;to observe all that&nbsp;I have commanded you. A name is someone\u2019s identity. You can\u2019t help but think that when parents give their baby a name, there\u2019s intent and motive behind it. In some ways, naming a child is, dare I say, a form of prophecy, speaking one\u2019s destiny into existence. The meaning of my name, Durell, comes from a French name \u201cDureau\u201d which means \u201cstrong.\u201d I\u2019m not sure if my parents even knew that they were speaking \u201cstrength\u201d over my future. But can you imagine how Joseph must have felt when he heard from the angel, Gabriel, in Matthew 1:21 that Mary would give birth to a son and \u201c\u2026you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.\u201d In that moment, did he really know that Jesus would be a savior?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet here we are in our final Holy Week devotional, reading about an event that changed the course of history. And out of everything we\u2019ve read over the last 7 days, allow me to shed light on this one thing: The name of Jesus provokes, even demands, a response. When people hear his name, similar to the disciples in v.17, some will worship him or be filled with doubt. Some will curse his name, while others repent of their sin. Some will adore his name. But a day is coming when Philippians 2:9-11 will be fulfilled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTherefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Holy Week, we\u2019ve discovered Jesus to be many things: King of Zion, Son of David, Son of Man, Messiah, Man of Sorrows, Lamb of God, a Friend of Sinners and Sufferers. Yet the sum of all those titles comes to this: He is the Name Above All Names. And this is the best part about it all: to those who acknowledge and surrender to Jesus, his name becomes their new identity. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, \u201cFor our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope that as you reflect on Jesus\u2019 names and titles, and all that they carry, your heart will be filled with gratitude and praise, singing \u201cHallelujah, every voice will proclaim there is no higher name!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now knowing that your identity is found in the name of Jesus, how will you live up to your identity as a follower of Christ?
