And being overcome by sleep, he&nbsp;fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>But Paul went down and&nbsp;bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said,&nbsp;\u201cDo not be alarmed, for his life is in him.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>And when Paul had gone up and&nbsp;had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>But going ahead to the ship, we set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go by land.\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>And when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went to Mitylene.\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>And sailing from there we came the following day opposite Chios; the next day we touched at Samos; and\u00a0the day after that we went to Miletus.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he might not have to spend time in Asia, for he was hastening\u00a0to be at Jerusalem, if possible,\u00a0on the day of Pentecost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Paul Speaks to the Ephesian Elders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>Now from Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called&nbsp;the elders of the church to come to him.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>And when they came to him, he said to them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou yourselves know\u00a0how I lived among you the whole time\u00a0from the first day that I set foot in Asia,\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>serving the Lord\u00a0with all humility and with\u00a0tears and with trials that happened to me through\u00a0the plots of the Jews;\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>how I\u00a0did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and\u00a0teaching you in public and from house to house,\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of\u00a0repentance toward God and of\u00a0faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained\u00a0by\u00a0the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,\u00a0<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>except that\u00a0the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that\u00a0imprisonment and\u00a0afflictions await me.\u00a0<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only\u00a0I may finish my course and\u00a0the ministry\u00a0that I received from the Lord Jesus,\u00a0to testify to\u00a0the gospel of\u00a0the grace of God.\u00a0<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>And now, behold,\u00a0I know that none of you among whom I have gone about\u00a0proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again.\u00a0<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore\u00a0I testify to you this day that\u00a0I am innocent of the blood of all,\u00a0<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>for\u00a0I did not shrink from declaring to you\u00a0the whole counsel of God.\u00a0<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all\u00a0the flock, in which\u00a0the Holy Spirit has made you\u00a0overseers,\u00a0to care for\u00a0the church of God,\u00a0which he\u00a0obtained\u00a0with his own blood.\u00a0<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>I\u00a0know that after my departure\u00a0fierce wolves will come in among you,\u00a0not sparing the flock;\u00a0<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>and\u00a0from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.\u00a0<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore\u00a0be alert, remembering that\u00a0for three years I did not cease night or day\u00a0to admonish every one\u00a0with tears.\u00a0<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>And now\u00a0I commend you to God and to\u00a0the word of his grace, which is able to\u00a0build you up and to give you\u00a0the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>I coveted no one&#8217;s silver or gold or apparel.\u00a0<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>You yourselves know that\u00a0these hands ministered to my necessities and\u00a0to those who were with me.\u00a0<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>In all things\u00a0I have shown you that\u00a0by working hard in this way we must\u00a0help the weak and\u00a0remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said,\u00a0\u2018It is more blessed\u00a0to give than to receive.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>36&nbsp;<\/sup>And when he had said these things,&nbsp;he knelt down and prayed with them all.&nbsp;<sup>37&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;there was much weeping on the part of all;&nbsp;they embraced Paul and&nbsp;kissed him,&nbsp;<sup>38&nbsp;<\/sup>being sorrowful most of all because of&nbsp;the word he had spoken, that they would not see his face again. First, we see Paul\u2019s tender care for the churches he visited as he concludes this third missionary journey. We see his sadness as he bids friends farewell in tears, we see compassion as he heals the dead, and we see his joy as he gathers relief money for the believers in Jerusalem. Second, we sense Paul\u2019s passion for his Lord as he preaches the \u201cfull counsel of God\u201d to both Jews and Greeks; sternly warning all to be aware of false teachers who aim to lead them astray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul\u2019s life models the two great commandments summed up by Jesus: (1) Love the Lord your God and (2) Love your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27). Paul engages poignantly with God and man despite hardships and predicted persecution. As Christians, we are asked to do the same regardless of the cost. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 16:24 that any follower should \u201cdeny himself and take up his cross and follow me.\u201d We are not our own but have been bought with a price, and therefore, we are to seek God and serve Him wholly!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><strong><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\"><strong>Are there some areas in your life that you hold back from God?
