Consider the impact of social media, smartphones, and other technological advancements. They have changed the culture in which we live.

Acts 10 provides a “game-changer” in the Church’s early years. In the first nine chapters of Acts, the Holy Spirit’s work in the Church was mostly confined to the Jews. That changed dramatically in chapter 10, where God declared that Jesus came for everyone, including the Gentiles (non-Jews). God used Peter (one of Jesus’ disciples) to lead Cornelius, a Gentile, to faith in Christ. One commentator writes, “Peter took the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven given him by Christ and, in an epoch-changing moment, opened the door of salvation to the Gentiles.” Peter told Cornelius, “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation, anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. Everyone who believes in him (Jesus) receives forgiveness of sins.” (Acts 10:34-35, 43, ESV). There is no favoritism with Christ. He came for all.

Knowing that Jesus desires all to come to him reminds us to be intentional in our encounters with others. Cornelius invited his friends and family to hear Peter even before he was a Christian (Acts 10:24). Similarly, we must strive not to miss opportunities to invite people we know to hear Christ’s “game-changing” message. Always be ready to share your faith or ask someone to attend church. Jesus is for them.

Who has God placed in your circle of influence that you may have a spiritual conversation with, like Peter?
