And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peter Speaks in Solomon&#8217;s Portico<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in&nbsp;the portico called Solomon&#8217;s.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: \u201cMen of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk?&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,&nbsp;the God of our fathers,&nbsp;glorified his servant&nbsp;Jesus, whom&nbsp;you delivered over and&nbsp;denied in the presence of Pilate,&nbsp;when he had decided to release him.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>But you denied&nbsp;the Holy and&nbsp;Righteous One, and&nbsp;asked for a murderer to be granted to you,&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>and you killed&nbsp;the Author of life,&nbsp;whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>And&nbsp;his name\u2014by&nbsp;faith in his name\u2014has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is&nbsp;through Jesus&nbsp;has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cAnd now, brothers, I know that&nbsp;you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>But what God&nbsp;foretold&nbsp;by the mouth of all the prophets, that&nbsp;his Christ would&nbsp;suffer, he thus fulfilled.&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>Repent therefore, and&nbsp;turn back, that&nbsp;your sins may be blotted out,&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ&nbsp;appointed for you, Jesus,&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>whom heaven must receive until the time for&nbsp;restoring all the things about which&nbsp;God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>Moses said, \u2018The Lord God will raise up for you&nbsp;a prophet like me from your brothers. As they do, God gives them another opportunity to grow his kingdom. The opportunity before them is a man with a disability who others have passed by. He begs for their attention and money so that he can live. Look closely at the text and see Peter and John\u2019s awareness of God\u2019s will. The ESV says, \u201cPeter directed his gaze at him,\u201d the NIV comments, \u201cPeter looked straight at him,\u201d and the NLT notes, \u201cPeter and John looked intently at him.\u201d What follows is a miracle and an open door for the gospel.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Jesus prays in Matthew 6 that God\u2019s name and his kingdom would be made great. Today, this happens when we notice the opportunities he has for us. Take some time today and ask God to give you opportunities to grow his kingdom. Then, keep your head on a swivel and look for people he will place in your path. Don\u2019t worry about performing a miracle. Instead, start a conversation, do an act of service, or give someone that people often overlook your attention. Who knows what God has in store?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong><strong><em><strong><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">How do you think you would have responded to the beggar?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">Are there any ways that you need to reorient your attention so that you notice the people God will place in your path?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In today\u2019s text, we see Peter and John head to the temple to pray.
