{"id":1912,"date":"2022-03-30T01:00:16","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T06:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=1912"},"modified":"2022-03-22T16:39:40","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T21:39:40","slug":"3-30-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/3-30-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"The Essential Jesus-Day 80"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-01d158d ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\"><style>.ugb-01d158d-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-01d158d-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-01d158d-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Luke 23:26-56<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Crucifixion<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were&nbsp;mourning and lamenting for him.&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>But turning to them Jesus said,&nbsp;\u201cDaughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>For behold,&nbsp;the days are coming when they will say,&nbsp;\u2018Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!\u2019&nbsp;<sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>Then they will begin to say to the mountains, \u2018Fall on us,\u2019 and to the hills, \u2018Cover us.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;if they do these things when&nbsp;the wood is green, what will happen&nbsp;when it is dry?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him.\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals,\u00a0one on his right and one on his left.\u00a0<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>And Jesus said,\u00a0\u201cFather,\u00a0forgive them,\u00a0for they know not what they do.\u201d\u00a0And they cast lots\u00a0to divide his garments.\u00a0<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0the people stood by, watching,\u00a0but\u00a0the rulers\u00a0scoffed at him, saying,\u00a0\u201cHe saved others;\u00a0let him save himself,\u00a0if he is\u00a0the Christ of God,\u00a0his Chosen One!\u201d\u00a0<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and\u00a0offering him sour wine\u00a0<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>and saying,\u00a0\u201cIf you are\u00a0the King of the Jews, save yourself!\u201d\u00a0<sup>38\u00a0<\/sup>There was also an inscription over him,\u00a0\u201cThis is\u00a0the King of the Jews.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>39\u00a0<\/sup>One of the criminals who were hanged\u00a0railed at him,\u00a0saying, \u201cAre you not\u00a0the Christ? Save yourself and us!\u201d\u00a0<sup>40\u00a0<\/sup>But the other rebuked him, saying, \u201cDo you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?\u00a0<sup>41\u00a0<\/sup>And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.\u201d\u00a0<sup>42\u00a0<\/sup>And he said, \u201cJesus, remember me\u00a0when you come into your kingdom.\u201d\u00a0<sup>43\u00a0<\/sup>And he said to him,\u00a0\u201cTruly, I say to you, today you will be with me in\u00a0paradise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Death of Jesus<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>44\u00a0<\/sup>It was now about the sixth hour,\u00a0and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,\u00a0<sup>45\u00a0<\/sup>while the sun&#8217;s light failed. And\u00a0the curtain of the temple was torn in two.\u00a0<sup>46\u00a0<\/sup>Then Jesus,\u00a0calling out with a loud voice, said,\u00a0\u201cFather,\u00a0into your hands I\u00a0commit my spirit!\u201d\u00a0And having said this\u00a0he breathed his last.\u00a0<sup>47\u00a0<\/sup>Now\u00a0when the centurion saw what had taken place,\u00a0he praised God, saying, \u201cCertainly this man was innocent!\u201d\u00a0<sup>48\u00a0<\/sup>And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home\u00a0beating their breasts.\u00a0<sup>49\u00a0<\/sup>And all\u00a0his acquaintances and\u00a0the women who had followed him from Galilee\u00a0stood at a distance watching these things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Is Buried<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>50\u00a0<\/sup>Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea.
