{"id":163,"date":"2019-12-15T00:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-15T06:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=163"},"modified":"2019-12-10T16:54:20","modified_gmt":"2019-12-10T22:54:20","slug":"luke-day-15","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/luke-day-15\/","title":{"rendered":"Luke Chapter 15"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Day 15: December 15, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus\u2019 radical love for the sinners and outcasts drew criticism from the religious leaders of His day. In response, Jesus told three parables to teach what these \u201csinners\u201d really were: lost sheep who needed a shepherd to carry them back, lost coins that had value and were found, and lost sons who needed to repent and return home so they could experience the grace of a loving Father. God values each and every one of us. So much, in fact, that He pursues us when we are lost and lays us on His shoulders as He carries us home rejoicing. And in times where we are like the prodigal son, we must remind ourselves of the compassionate and loving Heavenly Father that awaits to joyfully embrace us in His arms when we return home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-73ad472 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-73ad472 .ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-73ad472-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-73ad472-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Luke 15<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Parable of the Lost Sheep<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Now&nbsp;the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him.&nbsp;<sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>And the Pharisees and the scribes&nbsp;grumbled, saying,&nbsp;\u201cThis man receives sinners and&nbsp;eats with them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>So he told them this parable:&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cWhat man of you, having a hundred sheep,&nbsp;if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine&nbsp;in the open country, and&nbsp;go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>And when he has found it,&nbsp;he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, \u2018Rejoice with me, for&nbsp;I have found my sheep that was lost.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who&nbsp;repents than over ninety-nine&nbsp;righteous persons who need no repentance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Parable of the Lost Coin<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cOr what woman, having ten silver coins,&nbsp;if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it?&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, \u2018Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Just so, I tell you, there is joy before&nbsp;the angels of God over one sinner who repents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Parable of the Prodigal Son<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said,&nbsp;\u201cThere was a man who had two sons.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And the younger of them said to his father, \u2018Father, give me&nbsp;the share of property that is coming to me.\u2019 And he divided&nbsp;his property between them.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property in&nbsp;reckless living.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>So he went and hired himself out to&nbsp;one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>And he&nbsp;was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cBut&nbsp;when he&nbsp;came to himself, he said, \u2018How many of my father&#8217;s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger!&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, \u201cFather,&nbsp;I have sinned against&nbsp;heaven and before you.&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.\u201d\u2019&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and&nbsp;ran and&nbsp;embraced him and&nbsp;kissed him.&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>And the son said to him, \u2018Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.&nbsp;I am no longer worthy to be called your son.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>But the father said to his servants,&nbsp;\u2018Bring quickly&nbsp;the best robe, and put it on him, and put&nbsp;a ring on his hand, and&nbsp;shoes on his feet.&nbsp;<sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>And bring&nbsp;the fattened calf and kill it, and&nbsp;let us eat and celebrate.&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>For this my son&nbsp;was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.\u2019 And they began to celebrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cNow his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to him, \u2018Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.\u2019&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>But he was angry and refused to go in.
