We refuse to practice\u00a0cunning or\u00a0to tamper with God&#8217;s word, but\u00a0by the open statement of the truth\u00a0we would commend ourselves to everyone&#8217;s conscience in the sight of God.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And even\u00a0if our gospel is veiled,\u00a0it is veiled to\u00a0those who are perishing.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>In their case\u00a0the god of this world\u00a0has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing\u00a0the light of\u00a0the gospel of the glory of Christ,\u00a0who is the image of God.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>For what\u00a0we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with\u00a0ourselves as your servants\u00a0for Jesus&#8217; sake.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>For God, who said,\u00a0\u201cLet light shine out of darkness,\u201d\u00a0has shone in our hearts to give\u00a0the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Treasure in Jars of Clay<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>But we have this treasure in&nbsp;jars of clay,&nbsp;to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>We are&nbsp;afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>persecuted, but&nbsp;not forsaken;&nbsp;struck down, but not destroyed;&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>always carrying in the body the death of Jesus,&nbsp;so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus&#8217; sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>So&nbsp;death is at work in us, but life in you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>Since we have&nbsp;the same spirit of faith according to what has been written,&nbsp;\u201cI believed, and so I spoke,\u201d we also believe, and so we also speak,&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>knowing that&nbsp;he who raised the Lord Jesus&nbsp;will raise us also with Jesus and&nbsp;bring us with you into his presence.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;it is all for your sake, so that as&nbsp;grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving,&nbsp;to the glory of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>So we do not lose heart.\u00a0Though our outer self\u00a0is wasting away,\u00a0our inner self\u00a0is being renewed day by day.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>For\u00a0this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our Heavenly Dwelling<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>For we know that if\u00a0the tent that is\u00a0our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God,\u00a0a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>For in this tent\u00a0we groan, longing to\u00a0put on our heavenly dwelling,\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>if indeed by putting it on\u00a0we may not be found naked.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened\u2014not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal\u00a0may be swallowed up by life.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>He who has prepared us for this very thing is God,\u00a0who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>So we are always of good courage. We know that&nbsp;while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>for&nbsp;we walk by faith, not&nbsp;by sight.&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>Yes, we are of good courage, and we&nbsp;would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to&nbsp;please him.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,&nbsp;so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Ministry of Reconciliation<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>Therefore, knowing&nbsp;the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But&nbsp;what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>We are not commending ourselves to you again but&nbsp;giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>For if we&nbsp;are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>For the love of Christ&nbsp;controls us, because we have concluded this: that&nbsp;one has died for all, therefore all have died;&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>and he died for all,&nbsp;that those who live might no longer live for themselves but&nbsp;for him who for their sake died and was raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>From now on, therefore,\u00a0we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore, if anyone is\u00a0in Christ, he is\u00a0a new creation.\u00a0The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>All this is from God,\u00a0who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us\u00a0the ministry of reconciliation;\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>that is, in Christ God was reconciling\u00a0the world to himself,\u00a0not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us\u00a0the message of reconciliation.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore,\u00a0we are ambassadors for Christ,\u00a0God making his appeal through us.
