He saw the linen cloths lying there,\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>and\u00a0the face cloth, which had been on Jesus&#8217;\u00a0head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>Then the other disciple,\u00a0who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed;\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>for as yet\u00a0they did not understand the Scripture,\u00a0that he must rise from the dead.\u00a0<sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>Then the disciples went back to their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb.\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0she saw\u00a0two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet.\u00a0<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>They said to her,\u00a0\u201cWoman, why are you weeping?\u201d She said to them,\u00a0\u201cThey have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.\u201d\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>Having said this, she turned around and\u00a0saw Jesus standing,\u00a0but she did not know that it was Jesus.\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to her,\u00a0\u201cWoman, why are you weeping?\u00a0Whom are you seeking?\u201d\u00a0Supposing him to be\u00a0the gardener, she said to him, \u201cSir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.\u201d\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to her,\u00a0\u201cMary.\u201d\u00a0She turned and said to him in Aramaic,\u00a0\u201cRabboni!\u201d (which means Teacher).\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to her,\u00a0\u201cDo not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to\u00a0my brothers and say to them,\u00a0\u2018I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to\u00a0my God and your God.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>Mary Magdalene\u00a0went and announced to the disciples, \u201cI have seen the Lord\u201d\u2014and that he had said these things to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Appears to the Disciples<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>On the evening\u00a0of that day, the first day of the week,\u00a0the doors being locked where the disciples were\u00a0for fear of the Jews,\u00a0Jesus came and stood among them and said to them,\u00a0\u201cPeace be with you.\u201d\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>When he had said this,\u00a0he showed them his hands and his side. Then\u00a0the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to them again,\u00a0\u201cPeace be with you. As\u00a0the Father has sent me,\u00a0even so I am sending you.\u201d\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>And when he had said this, he\u00a0breathed on them and said to them,\u00a0\u201cReceive the Holy Spirit.\u00a0<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus and Thomas<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>Now\u00a0Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin,\u00a0was not with them when Jesus came.\u00a0<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>So the other disciples told him, \u201cWe have seen the Lord.\u201d But he said to them,\u00a0\u201cUnless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them.&nbsp;Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said,&nbsp;\u201cPeace be with you.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he said to Thomas,&nbsp;\u201cPut your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>Thomas answered him,&nbsp;\u201cMy Lord and my God!\u201d&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said to him,&nbsp;\u201cHave you believed because you have seen me?&nbsp;Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Purpose of This Book<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>Now Jesus did many other signs\u00a0in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;\u00a0<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>but these are written so that you may\u00a0believe that Jesus is the Christ,\u00a0the Son of God, and that by believing\u00a0you may have life\u00a0in his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 21<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Appears to Seven Disciples<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>After this Jesus\u00a0revealed himself\u00a0again to the disciples by\u00a0the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Simon Peter,\u00a0Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of\u00a0Cana in Galilee,\u00a0the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>Simon Peter said to them, \u201cI am going fishing.\u201d They said to him, \u201cWe will go with you.\u201d They went out and got into the boat, but\u00a0that night they caught nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples\u00a0did not know that it was Jesus.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to them,\u00a0\u201cChildren, do you have any fish?\u201d\u00a0They answered him, \u201cNo.\u201d\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>He said to them,\u00a0\u201cCast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.\u201d\u00a0So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish.\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>That disciple\u00a0whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, \u201cIt is the Lord!\u201d When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,\u00a0he put on his outer garment, for he was\u00a0stripped for work, and\u00a0threw himself into the sea.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards\u00a0off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said to them,&nbsp;\u201cBring some of the fish that you have just caught.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said to them,&nbsp;\u201cCome and&nbsp;have breakfast.\u201d&nbsp;Now&nbsp;none of the disciples dared ask him, \u201cWho are you?\u201d They knew it was the Lord.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus came and&nbsp;took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus and Peter<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>When they had&nbsp;finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,&nbsp;\u201cSimon,&nbsp;son of John,&nbsp;do you love me more than these?\u201d&nbsp;He said to him, \u201cYes, Lord; you know that I love you.\u201d He said to him,&nbsp;\u201cFeed&nbsp;my lambs.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>He said to him a second time,&nbsp;\u201cSimon, son of John, do you love me?\u201d&nbsp;He said to him, \u201cYes, Lord; you know that I love you.\u201d He said to him,&nbsp;\u201cTend&nbsp;my sheep.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>He said to him the third time,&nbsp;\u201cSimon, son of John, do you love me?\u201d&nbsp;Peter was grieved because he said to him&nbsp;the third time,&nbsp;\u201cDo you love me?\u201d&nbsp;and he said to him, \u201cLord,&nbsp;you know everything; you know that I love you.\u201d Jesus said to him,&nbsp;\u201cFeed&nbsp;my sheep.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young,&nbsp;you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>(This he said to show&nbsp;by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him,&nbsp;\u201cFollow me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus and the Beloved Apostle<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Peter turned and saw\u00a0the disciple whom Jesus loved following them,\u00a0the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, \u201cLord, who is it that is going to betray you?\u201d\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, \u201cLord, what about this man?\u201d\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to him,\u00a0\u201cIf it is my will that he remain\u00a0until\u00a0I come, what is that to you?\u00a0You follow me!\u201d\u00a0<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>So the saying spread abroad among\u00a0the brothers\u00a0that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but,\u00a0\u201cIf it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>This is the disciple&nbsp;who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and&nbsp;we know&nbsp;that his testimony is true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>Now&nbsp;there are also many other things that Jesus did.
