{"id":1554,"date":"2021-03-11T00:15:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-11T06:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=1554"},"modified":"2021-03-02T09:23:54","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T15:23:54","slug":"3-11-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/3-11-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Essential 100-Day 61"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-01d158d ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\"><style>.ugb-01d158d-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-01d158d-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-01d158d-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-01d158d-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Luke 9:1-36<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>and he sent them out to\u00a0proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And he said to them,\u00a0\u201cTake nothing for your journey,\u00a0no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town\u00a0shake off the dust from your feet\u00a0as a testimony\u00a0against them.\u201d\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Herod Is Perplexed by Jesus<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Now&nbsp;Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was perplexed, because it was said by some that&nbsp;John had been raised from the dead,&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>by some that Elijah had appeared, and&nbsp;by others that one of the prophets of old had risen.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>Herod said, \u201cJohn I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?\u201d And&nbsp;he sought to see him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>On their return&nbsp;the apostles told him all that they had done.&nbsp;And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida.&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>When the crowds learned it, they followed him, and he&nbsp;welcomed them and&nbsp;spoke to them of the kingdom of God and&nbsp;cured those who had need of healing.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>Now&nbsp;the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him,&nbsp;\u201cSend the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>But he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cYou give them something to eat.\u201d&nbsp;They said, \u201cWe have no more than&nbsp;five loaves and two fish\u2014unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples,&nbsp;\u201cHave them sit down in groups of about fifty each.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>And they did so, and had them all sit down.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>And taking the five loaves and the two fish,&nbsp;he looked up to heaven and&nbsp;said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them,&nbsp;\u201cWho do the crowds say that I am?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>And they answered,&nbsp;\u201cJohn the Baptist. But others say,&nbsp;Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he said to them,&nbsp;\u201cBut who do you say that I am?\u201d&nbsp;And Peter answered,&nbsp;\u201cThe Christ of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus Foretells His Death<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one,&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>saying,&nbsp;\u201cThe Son of Man must&nbsp;suffer many things and&nbsp;be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on&nbsp;the third day be raised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>And he said to all,&nbsp;\u201cIf anyone would come after me, let him&nbsp;deny himself and&nbsp;take up his cross&nbsp;daily and follow me.&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>For&nbsp;whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed&nbsp;when he comes in&nbsp;his glory and the glory of the Father and of&nbsp;the holy angels.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who will not&nbsp;taste death&nbsp;until they see the kingdom of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Transfiguration<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him\u00a0Peter and John and James and\u00a0went up on the mountain to pray.\u00a0<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was\u00a0altered, and\u00a0his clothing became dazzling white.\u00a0<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah,\u00a0<sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,\u00a0which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.\u00a0<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>Now Peter and those who were with him\u00a0were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake\u00a0they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, \u201cMaster, it is good that we are here.
