Zion<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cListen to me, you who pursue righteousness,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0you who seek the\u00a0Lord:<br>look to the rock from which you were hewn,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and to the quarry from which you were dug.<br><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Look to Abraham your father<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and to Sarah who bore you;<br>for\u00a0he was but one when I called him,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0that I might bless him and multiply him.<br><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>For the\u00a0Lord\u00a0comforts Zion;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he comforts all her waste places<br>and makes her wilderness like\u00a0Eden,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0her desert like\u00a0the garden of the\u00a0Lord;<br>joy and gladness will be found in her,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0thanksgiving and the voice of song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cGive attention to me, my people,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and give ear to me, my nation;<br>for a law\u00a0will go out from me,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and I will set my justice for a light to the peoples.<br><sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>My righteousness draws near,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0my salvation has gone out,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and my arms will judge the peoples;<br>the coastlands hope for me,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and for my arm they wait.<br><sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Lift up your eyes to the heavens,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and look at the earth beneath;<br>for the heavens vanish like smoke,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the earth will wear out like a garment,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and they who dwell in it will die in like manner;<br>but my salvation will be forever,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and my righteousness will never be dismayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cListen to me, you who know righteousness,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the people&nbsp;in whose heart is my law;<br>fear not the reproach of man,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;nor be dismayed at their revilings.<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>For the moth will eat them up like a garment,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the worm will eat them like wool,<br>but my righteousness will be forever,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and my salvation to all generations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>Awake, awake,&nbsp;put on strength,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;O&nbsp;arm of the&nbsp;Lord;<br>awake,&nbsp;as in days of old,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the generations of long ago.<br>Was it not you who cut&nbsp;Rahab in pieces,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who pierced&nbsp;the dragon?<br><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Was it not you who dried up the sea,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the waters of the great deep,<br>who made the depths of the sea a way<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;for the redeemed to pass over?<br><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>And the ransomed of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;shall return<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and come to Zion with singing;<br>everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;they shall obtain gladness and joy,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cI, I am he\u00a0who comforts you;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who are you that you are afraid of\u00a0man who dies,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of the son of man who is made\u00a0like grass,<br><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>and have forgotten the\u00a0Lord, your Maker,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who stretched out the heavens<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0laid the foundations of the earth,<br>and you fear continually all the day<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0because of the wrath of\u00a0the oppressor,<br>when he sets himself to destroy?<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And where is the wrath of\u00a0the oppressor?<br><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>He who is bowed down shall speedily be released;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he shall not die and go down\u00a0to the pit,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0neither shall his bread be lacking.<br><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>I am the\u00a0Lord\u00a0your God,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar\u2014<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0of hosts is his name.<br><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>And I have put my words in your mouth<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and covered you in the shadow of my hand,<br>establishing\u00a0the heavens<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and\u00a0laying the foundations of the earth,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and saying to Zion, \u2018You are my people.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>Wake yourself, wake yourself,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0stand up, O Jerusalem,<br>you who have drunk from the hand of the\u00a0Lord<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the cup of his wrath,<br>who have drunk to the dregs<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the bowl,\u00a0the cup of staggering.<br><sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>There is none to guide her<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0among all the sons she has borne;<br>there is none to take her by the hand<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0among all the sons she has brought up.<br><sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>These two things have happened to you\u2014<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who will console you?\u2014<br>devastation and destruction, famine and sword;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who will comfort you?<br><sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>Your sons have fainted;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they lie at the head of every street<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0like an\u00a0antelope\u00a0in a net;<br>they are full of the wrath of the\u00a0Lord,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the rebuke of your God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore hear this, you who are afflicted,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who are drunk, but not with wine:<br><sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>Thus says your Lord, the\u00a0Lord,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0your God\u00a0who pleads the cause of his people:<br>\u201cBehold, I have taken from your hand\u00a0the cup of staggering;<br>the bowl of my wrath you shall drink no more;<br><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>and I will put it into the hand of your tormentors,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0who have said to you,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2018Bow down, that we may pass over\u2019;<br>and\u00a0you have made your back like the ground<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and like the street for them to pass over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 52<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The&nbsp;Lord&#8217;s Coming Salvation<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>Awake, awake,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0put on your strength, O Zion;<br>put on your beautiful garments,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0O Jerusalem,\u00a0the holy city;<br>for there shall no more come into you<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the uncircumcised and the unclean.<br><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Shake yourself from the dust and arise;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0be seated, O Jerusalem;<br>loose the bonds from your neck,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0O captive daughter of Zion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>For thus says the\u00a0Lord:\u00a0\u201cYou were sold for nothing, and\u00a0you shall be redeemed without money.\u201d\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>For thus says the Lord\u00a0God:\u00a0\u201cMy people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them for nothing.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Now therefore what have I here,\u201d declares the\u00a0Lord, \u201cseeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Their rulers wail,\u201d declares the\u00a0Lord, \u201cand\u00a0continually all the day my name is despised.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Therefore my people shall know my name.\u00a0Therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here I am.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>How beautiful upon the mountains<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;are the feet of him who brings good news,<br>who publishes peace,&nbsp;who brings good news of happiness,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who publishes salvation,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;who says to Zion, \u201cYour God reigns.\u201d<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>The voice of&nbsp;your watchmen\u2014they lift up their voice;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;together they sing for joy;<br>for eye to eye they see<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the return of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;to Zion.<br><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>Break forth together into singing,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you waste places of Jerusalem,<br>for&nbsp;the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has comforted his people;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;he has redeemed Jerusalem.<br><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>The&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has bared his holy arm<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;before the eyes of all the nations,<br>and all the ends of the earth shall see<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the salvation of our God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>Depart, depart, go out from there;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;touch no unclean thing;<br>go out from the midst of her; purify yourselves,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;you who bear the vessels of the&nbsp;Lord.<br><sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>For you shall not&nbsp;go out in haste,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and you shall not go in flight,<br>for the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;will go before you,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">He Was Pierced for Our Transgressions<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>Behold,\u00a0my servant shall act wisely;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he shall be high and lifted up,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and shall be exalted.<br><sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>As many were astonished at you\u2014<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and his form beyond that of the children of mankind\u2014<br><sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>so\u00a0shall he sprinkle\u00a0many nations.<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Kings shall shut their mouths because of him,<br>for that which has not been told them they see,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and that which they have not heard they understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 53<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>Who has believed what he has heard from us?<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And to whom has\u00a0the arm of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0been revealed?<br><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>For he grew up before him like a young plant,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and like a root out of dry ground;<br>he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and no beauty that we should desire him.<br><sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>He was despised and rejected\u00a0by men,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a man of sorrows\u00a0and acquainted with\u00a0grief;<br>and as one from whom men hide their faces<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he was despised, and\u00a0we esteemed him not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>Surely he has borne our griefs<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and carried our sorrows;<br>yet we esteemed him stricken,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;smitten by God, and afflicted.<br><sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>But he was pierced for our transgressions;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;he was crushed for our iniquities;<br>upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and with his wounds we are healed.<br><sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>All we like sheep have gone astray;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;we have turned\u2014every one\u2014to his own way;<br>and the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has laid on him<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the iniquity of us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;yet he opened not his mouth;<br>like a&nbsp;lamb that is led to the slaughter,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;so he opened not his mouth.<br><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>By oppression and judgment he was taken away;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and as for his generation,&nbsp;who considered<br>that he was cut off out of the land of the living,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;stricken for the transgression of my people?<br><sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And they made his grave with the wicked<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and with a rich man in his death,<br>although&nbsp;he had done no violence,<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;and there was no deceit in his mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>Yet\u00a0it was the will of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0to crush him;<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he has put him to grief;<br>when his soul makes\u00a0an offering for guilt,<br>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he shall see his offspring;
