And there arose another generation after them who did not know the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;or the work that he had done for Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Israel&#8217;s Unfaithfulness<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;and served the Baals.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>And they abandoned the&nbsp;Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt.&nbsp;They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and&nbsp;bowed down to them.&nbsp;And they provoked the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;to anger.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>They abandoned the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>So the anger of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;was kindled against Israel, and he&nbsp;gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them.&nbsp;And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies,&nbsp;so that they could no longer withstand their enemies.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>Whenever they marched out, the hand of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;was against them for harm, as the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;had warned,&nbsp;and as the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;had sworn to them. And they were in terrible distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;Raises Up Judges<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>Then the\u00a0Lord\u00a0raised up judges,\u00a0who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>Yet they did not listen to their judges, for\u00a0they whored after other gods and bowed down to them.\u00a0They soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the\u00a0Lord, and they did not do so.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>Whenever the\u00a0Lord\u00a0raised up judges for them,\u00a0the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge.\u00a0For the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was moved to pity by\u00a0their groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them.\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>But\u00a0whenever the judge died, they turned back and were more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods, serving them and bowing down to them. They did not drop any of their practices or their stubborn ways.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>So the anger of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0was kindled against Israel, and he said, \u201cBecause this people\u00a0have transgressed my covenant that I commanded their fathers and have not obeyed my voice,\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died,\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>in order\u00a0to test Israel by them, whether they will take care to walk in the way of the\u00a0Lord\u00a0as their fathers did, or not.\u201d\u00a0<sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>So the\u00a0Lord\u00a0left those nations, not driving them out quickly, and he did not give them into the hand of Joshua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1\u00a0<\/strong>Now these are the nations that the\u00a0Lord\u00a0left, to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not experienced all the wars in Canaan.\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>It was only in order that the generations of the people of Israel might know war, to teach war to those who had not known it before.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>These are the nations:\u00a0the five lords of the Philistines and all the Canaanites and the Sidonians and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal-hermon as far as Lebo-hamath.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>They were for\u00a0the testing of Israel, to know whether Israel would obey the commandments of the\u00a0Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>So the people of Israel lived\u00a0among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>And their daughters they took to themselves for wives, and their own daughters they gave to their sons, and they served their gods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ededed\">The Holy Bible, English Standard Version\u00ae (ESV\u00ae), copyright \u00a9 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-divider ugb-divider ugb-8b67c78 ugb-divider--v2 ugb-divider--design-basic ugb-main-block\"><style>.ugb-8b67c78 hr.ugb-divider__hr{background-color:#dddddd !important;height:1px !important;width:50% !important;margin-left:auto !important;margin-right:auto !important}.ugb-8b67c78 .ugb-inner-block{text-align:center}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><hr class=\"ugb-divider__hr\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Judges 2:6-23, 3:1-6 The Death of Joshua 6&nbsp;When Joshua dismissed the people, the people of Israel went each to his inheritance to take possession of the land.&nbsp;7&nbsp;And the people served the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work that the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;had done &hellip;
