He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And Moses said, \u201cI will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.\u201d\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>When the\u00a0Lord\u00a0saw that he turned aside to see,\u00a0God called to him\u00a0out of the bush, \u201cMoses, Moses!\u201d And he said, \u201cHere I am.\u201d\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>Then he said, \u201cDo not come near;\u00a0take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.\u201d\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>And he said,\u00a0\u201cI am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.\u201d And Moses hid his face, for\u00a0he was afraid to look at God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>Then the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;said,&nbsp;\u201cI have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their&nbsp;taskmasters. I know their sufferings,&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>and&nbsp;I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and&nbsp;to bring them up out of that land to a&nbsp;good and broad land, a land&nbsp;flowing with milk and honey, to the place of&nbsp;the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And now, behold,&nbsp;the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the&nbsp;oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>But Moses said to God,&nbsp;\u201cWho am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>He said,&nbsp;\u201cBut I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt,&nbsp;you shall serve God on this mountain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>Then Moses said to God, \u201cIf I come to the people of Israel and say to them, \u2018The God of your fathers has sent me to you,\u2019 and they ask me, \u2018What is his name?\u2019 what shall I say to them?\u201d\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>God said to Moses, \u201cI am who I am.\u201d\u00a0And he said, \u201cSay this to the people of Israel:\u00a0\u2018I am\u00a0has sent me to you.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>God also said to Moses, \u201cSay this to the people of Israel: \u2018The\u00a0Lord,\u00a0the\u00a0God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.\u2019 This is\u00a0my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>Go and\u00a0gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, \u2018The\u00a0Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying,\u00a0\u201cI have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt,\u00a0<sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>and I promise that\u00a0I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land\u00a0flowing with milk and honey.\u201d\u2019\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0they will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel\u00a0shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, \u2018The\u00a0Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has\u00a0met with us; and now, please let us go a three days&#8217; journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the\u00a0Lord\u00a0our God.\u2019\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>But I know that the king of Egypt\u00a0will not let you go unless compelled\u00a0by a mighty hand.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>So\u00a0I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with\u00a0all the wonders that I will do in it;\u00a0after that he will let you go.\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>And\u00a0I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty,\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for\u00a0silver and gold jewelry, and for clothing. You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So\u00a0you shall plunder the Egyptians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapter 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moses Given Powerful Signs<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>1\u00a0Then Moses answered, \u201cBut behold, they will not believe me or listen to my voice, for they will say, \u2018The\u00a0Lord\u00a0did not appear to you.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>The\u00a0Lord\u00a0said to him, \u201cWhat is that in your hand?\u201d He said,\u00a0\u201cA staff.\u201d\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And he said, \u201cThrow it on the ground.\u201d So he threw it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses ran from it.\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>But the\u00a0Lord\u00a0said to Moses, \u201cPut out your hand and catch it by the tail\u201d\u2014so he put out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand\u2014\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cthat they may\u00a0believe that the\u00a0Lord,\u00a0the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.\u201d\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>Again, the\u00a0Lord\u00a0said to him, \u201cPut your hand inside your cloak.\u201d\u00a0And he put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was\u00a0leprous\u00a0like snow.\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>Then God said, \u201cPut your hand back inside your cloak.\u201d So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold,\u00a0it was restored like the rest of his flesh.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cIf they will not believe you,\u201d God said, \u201cor listen to the first sign, they may believe the latter sign.\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>If they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, you shall take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground, and the water that you shall take from the Nile\u00a0will become blood on the dry ground.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>But Moses said to the&nbsp;Lord, \u201cOh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but&nbsp;I am slow of speech and of tongue.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>Then the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;said to him, \u201cWho has made man&#8217;s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the&nbsp;Lord?&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>Now therefore go, and&nbsp;I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>But he said, \u201cOh, my Lord, please send someone else.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>Then the anger of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;was kindled against Moses and he said, \u201cIs there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well.
