{"id":1281,"date":"2020-11-05T00:04:02","date_gmt":"2020-11-05T06:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=1281"},"modified":"2020-11-04T19:56:17","modified_gmt":"2020-11-05T01:56:17","slug":"11-5-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/11-5-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Devotional-November 5th"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>November 5, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book of Exodus tells the story of the birth of the nation of Israel fulfilling God\u2019s promise to Abraham.&nbsp; From the seventy descendants of Jacob, Israel was fruitful and multiplied greatly until they filled the whole land of Egypt.&nbsp; After four centuries of slavery, God answers the cries of His people for deliverance.&nbsp; God raises up Moses for this calling, to lead his people out of bondage to a land of promise and deliverance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the greatest stories of the Bible are featured in Exodus\u2014from the Ten Plagues, and the Passover, to the crossing of the Red Sea, and the establishment of the covenant at Mount Sinai. The Passover lamb, the exodus from the land of Egypt, the seven feasts, the tabernacle, and even the high priest, are all foreshadows of the ministry of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapters 1-18 contains the events leading up to God\u2019s delivering the Hebrews from their captivity in Egypt, and chapters 19-40 shares the events in the wilderness and the account of God\u2019s instructions to Moses on Mount Sinai to direct the life and worship of the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-ee68a0c ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-ee68a0c-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-ee68a0c-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-ee68a0c-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-ee68a0c-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exodus 36<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1&nbsp;\u201cBezalel and Oholiab and&nbsp;every craftsman in whom the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has put skill and intelligence to know how to do any work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work in accordance with all that the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has commanded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every craftsman in whose mind the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;had put skill, everyone&nbsp;whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work.&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>And they received from Moses all the&nbsp;contribution that the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him&nbsp;freewill offerings every morning,&nbsp;<sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>so that all the craftsmen who were doing every sort of task on the sanctuary came, each from the task that he was doing,&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>and said to Moses,&nbsp;\u201cThe people bring much more than enough for doing the work that the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;has commanded us to do.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, \u201cLet no man or woman do anything more for the&nbsp;contribution for the sanctuary.\u201d So the people were restrained from bringing,&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>And all the craftsmen among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains. They were made of fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet yarns, with cherubim skillfully worked.&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits,&nbsp;and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. All the curtains were the same size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>He&nbsp;coupled five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he coupled to one another.&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>He made loops of blue on the edge of the outermost curtain of the first set. Likewise he made them on the edge of the outermost curtain of the second set.&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>He made fifty loops on the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was in the second set. The loops were opposite one another.&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains one to the other with clasps. So the tabernacle was a single whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>He also made curtains of goats&#8217; hair for a tent over the tabernacle. He made eleven curtains.&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. The eleven curtains were the same size.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>He coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain of the one set, and fifty loops on the edge of the other connecting curtain.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made fifty clasps of bronze to couple the tent together that it might be a single whole.&nbsp;<sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made for the tent a covering of tanned rams&#8217; skins and goatskins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he made the upright frames for the tabernacle of&nbsp;acacia wood.&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>Ten cubits was the length of a frame, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each frame.&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>Each frame had two tenons for fitting together. He did this for all the frames of the tabernacle.&nbsp;<sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>The frames for the tabernacle he made thus: twenty frames for the south side.&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made forty bases of silver under the twenty frames, two bases under one frame for its two tenons, and two bases under the next frame for its two tenons.&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>For the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty frames&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one frame and two bases under the next frame.&nbsp;<sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>For the rear of the tabernacle westward he made six frames.&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>He made two frames for corners of the tabernacle in the rear.&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>And they were separate beneath but joined at the top, at the first ring. He made two of them this way for the two corners.&nbsp;<sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>There were eight frames with their bases of silver: sixteen bases, under every frame two bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>He made bars of acacia wood, five for the frames of the one side of the tabernacle,&nbsp;<sup>32&nbsp;<\/sup>and five bars for the frames of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the frames of the tabernacle at the rear westward.&nbsp;<sup>33&nbsp;<\/sup>And he made the middle bar to run from end to end halfway up the frames.&nbsp;<sup>34&nbsp;<\/sup>And he overlaid the frames with gold, and made their rings of gold for holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>35&nbsp;<\/sup>He made the veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen; with cherubim skillfully worked into it he made it.&nbsp;<sup>36&nbsp;<\/sup>And for it he made four pillars of acacia and overlaid them with gold. Their hooks were of gold, and he cast for them four bases of silver.&nbsp;<sup>37&nbsp;<\/sup>He also made a screen for the entrance of the tent, of blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, embroidered with needlework,&nbsp;<sup>38&nbsp;<\/sup>and its five pillars with their hooks. Recall a time when the Lord stirred your heart to do something. Perhaps it was to show kindness to someone in a unique way, or to carry out an act of service that would reflect well on Jesus.<\/li><li>What was the difficulty the craftsmen told Moses about in verse 5? What are your thoughts about the people having to be asked to stop bringing contributions for the tabernacle because they were being so generous?<\/li><li>Has God ever stirred your heart to be particularly generous in some tangible way?<\/li><li>Reflect on Paul\u2019s words in Ephesians 3:20, \u201cNow to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.\u201d How do Paul\u2019s words relate to the peoples\u2019 contributions for the tabernacle?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Prayer: Father, you are so generous and when I am generous, I reflect your love and character. I pray you will stir my heart towards generosity like you did the people for the building of the tabernacle. Help me to be a cheerful giver, and I know that you will supply every need of mine according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
