{"id":1248,"date":"2020-10-25T00:28:08","date_gmt":"2020-10-25T05:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/?p=1248"},"modified":"2020-10-23T10:57:17","modified_gmt":"2020-10-23T15:57:17","slug":"10-25-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.championforest.org\/devotionals\/10-25-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Devotional-October 25th"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>October 25, 2020<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The book of Exodus tells the story of the birth of the nation of Israel fulfilling God\u2019s promise to Abraham.&nbsp; From the seventy descendants of Jacob, Israel was fruitful and multiplied greatly until they filled the whole land of Egypt.&nbsp; After four centuries of slavery, God answers the cries of His people for deliverance.&nbsp; God raises up Moses for this calling, to lead his people out of bondage to a land of promise and deliverance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the greatest stories of the Bible are featured in Exodus\u2014from the Ten Plagues, and the Passover, to the crossing of the Red Sea, and the establishment of the covenant at Mount Sinai. The Passover lamb, the exodus from the land of Egypt, the seven feasts, the tabernacle, and even the high priest, are all foreshadows of the ministry of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chapters 1-18 contains the events leading up to God\u2019s delivering the Hebrews from their captivity in Egypt, and chapters 19-40 shares the events in the wilderness and the account of God\u2019s instructions to Moses on Mount Sinai to direct the life and worship of the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ugb-container ugb-container ugb-6befe36 ugb-container--v2 ugb-container--design-basic ugb-main-block\" id=\"\"><style>.ugb-6befe36-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper{border-radius:12px !important;background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-6befe36-wrapper.ugb-container__wrapper:before{background-color:#f1f1f1 !important}.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h1,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h2,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h3,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h4,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h5,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > h6{color:#222222}.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > p,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > ol li,.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper > ul li{color:#222222}@media screen and (min-width:768px){.ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper.ugb-container__content-wrapper{width:100% !important}}<\/style><div class=\"ugb-inner-block\"><div class=\"ugb-block-content\"><div class=\"ugb-container__wrapper ugb-6befe36-wrapper ugb--shadow-3\"><div class=\"ugb-container__side\"><div class=\"ugb-container__content-wrapper ugb-6befe36-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exodus 25<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributions for the Sanctuary<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>1\u00a0The\u00a0Lord\u00a0said to Moses,\u00a0<sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cSpeak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From\u00a0every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me.\u00a0<sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze,\u00a0<sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats&#8217; hair,\u00a0<sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>tanned\u00a0rams&#8217; skins, goatskins,\u00a0acacia wood,\u00a0<sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>oil for the lamps,\u00a0spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense,\u00a0<sup>7\u00a0<\/sup>onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the\u00a0ephod and for the breastpiece.\u00a0<sup>8\u00a0<\/sup>And let them make me a\u00a0sanctuary, that\u00a0I may dwell in their midst.\u00a0<sup>9\u00a0<\/sup>Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the\u00a0tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Ark of the Covenant<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cThey shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits\u00a0and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.\u00a0<sup>11\u00a0<\/sup>You shall overlay it with\u00a0pure gold, inside and outside shall you overlay it, and you shall make on it a molding of gold around it.\u00a0<sup>12\u00a0<\/sup>You shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its\u00a0four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it.\u00a0<sup>13\u00a0<\/sup>You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.\u00a0<sup>14\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark by them.\u00a0<sup>15\u00a0<\/sup>The\u00a0poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it.\u00a0<sup>16\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall put into the ark the\u00a0testimony that I shall give you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>17\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cYou shall make a mercy seat\u00a0of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.\u00a0<sup>18\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of\u00a0hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat.\u00a0<sup>19\u00a0<\/sup>Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end.\u00a0Of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends.\u00a0<sup>20\u00a0<\/sup>The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be.\u00a0<sup>21\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you.\u00a0<sup>22\u00a0<\/sup>There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from\u00a0between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Table for Bread<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>23\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cYou shall make a table of acacia wood. Two cubits shall be its length, a cubit its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.\u00a0<sup>24\u00a0<\/sup>You shall overlay it with\u00a0pure gold and make a molding of gold around it.\u00a0<sup>25\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall make a rim around it a handbreadth\u00a0wide, and a molding of gold around the rim.\u00a0<sup>26\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall make for it four rings of gold, and fasten the rings to the four corners at its four legs.\u00a0<sup>27\u00a0<\/sup>Close to the frame the rings shall lie, as\u00a0holders for the poles to carry the table.\u00a0<sup>28\u00a0<\/sup>You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, and the table shall be carried with these.\u00a0<sup>29\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall make its plates and\u00a0dishes for incense, and its flagons and bowls with which to pour drink offerings; you shall make them of pure gold.\u00a0<sup>30\u00a0<\/sup>And you shall set the\u00a0bread of the Presence on the table before me regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Golden Lampstand<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>31\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cYou shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand shall be made of hammered work: its base, its stem, its cups, its calyxes, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it.\u00a0<sup>32\u00a0<\/sup>And there shall be six branches going out of its sides, three branches of the lampstand out of one side of it and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side of it;\u00a0<sup>33\u00a0<\/sup>three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on one branch, and three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on the other branch\u2014so for the six branches going out of the lampstand.\u00a0<sup>34\u00a0<\/sup>And on the lampstand itself there shall be four cups made like almond blossoms, with their calyxes and flowers,\u00a0<sup>35\u00a0<\/sup>and a calyx of one piece with it under each pair of the six branches going out from the lampstand.\u00a0<sup>36\u00a0<\/sup>Their calyxes and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it a single piece of hammered work of pure gold.\u00a0<sup>37\u00a0<\/sup>You shall make seven lamps for it. Reflect on Jesus\u2019 words in John 6:35, \u201cI am the bread of life;&nbsp;whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.\u201d &nbsp;<\/li><li>What is the significance of the Golden Lampstand?
