What started as a night of charm bracelets, Shirley Temples, and girl dinner quickly turned into something sacred\u2014an encounter with the God who delights in His daughters. As 6th-12th grade girls showed up Sunday night for the CF Student Ministry Girl’s Night event, they expected to have a fun evening filled with pizza, nail painting, charm bracelets, and a bounce house but the evening was much more than fun. The girls left with a deeper understanding of this truth: “The Lord doesn\u2019t just love you\u2014He delights in you.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theme for the evening was Hephzibah<\/em>, a name taken from Isaiah 62 which means \u201cmy delight is in her.\u201d Andrea Martinez, Girls Minister at Champion Forest, said the team prayerfully landed on the theme before even choosing a speaker. When they invited Lacy Abercrombie to speak and told her about the topic, they were surprised when she said, \u201cYou\u2019re not going to believe this\u2014I have Hephzibah tattooed on my arm.\u201d The name and passage are a big part of her testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lacy\u2019s message was powerful, personal, and funny. She captured the girls\u2019 attention and helped them see that their identity is not found in relationships, beauty, or performance\u2014but in Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During worship, girls responded with confession\u2014honest, vulnerable confession. They brought their struggles into the light:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Depression<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Suicidal thoughts<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Body image issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Pornography and lust<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Feeling like they aren\u2019t enough<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThey needed space to confess, and they did,\u201d Andrea said. \u201cGirls left encouraged by the truth that the Lord delights in them and that\u2019s everything we hoped for. Many gave their lives to Christ for the first time. Others experienced freedom from sin, shame, and fear.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It was a powerful night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One of the most beautiful aspects of the night was the presence of women from every generation. There were older women praying over students, teenage girls encouraging each other, and a shared \u201cgirl dinner\u201d of pizza and cake enjoyed picnic-style on blankets spread across the floor and the generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThere was no hierarchy,\u201d Andrea said. \u201cWe were just girls who worshipped, broke bread, and prayed together. The older women stepped up to serve and invest in the next generation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When I asked Andrea to share a few “wins” from the evening, she had a hard time naming only a few, but shared these standouts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Girls were reminded of the truth<\/strong>. They saw the lies they believe exposed against the backdrop of Scripture and were reminded they are not alone. \u201cThe things these girls are searching for\u2014they already are: loved, cherished, delighted in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Girls stepped into new life.<\/strong> Some gave their lives to Jesus. Others began walking in freedom for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They saw what it looks like to be the Church.<\/strong> They prayed together, worshipped together, and confessed together\u2014across generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A Challenge for All Women<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If you’re a woman reading this and wondering how to get involved, Andrea has a challenge for you: \u201cYou have a voice, and your story matters. God doesn\u2019t just want older women to\u00a0warn<\/em>\u00a0younger women\u2014He invites them to\u00a0walk<\/em>\u00a0with them. It\u2019s not “don’t do this” or \u201cdon\u2019t do that\u201d but \u201clet\u2019s do life together.\u201d She also offered a few practical ways to get involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Say hello<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Start small. Say hi to a student in the hallway. Ask a friend\u2019s daughter how school is going. Then follow up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Volunteer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Serve at an event. Help lead a small group. Just show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Disciple<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Reach out to the student team about discipling a female student through a student version of Next Steps,<\/em> a discipleship guide designed by Champion Forest to help you dig into God\u2019s Word together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    <\/div>\n\n\n\n

    This Night Was Just the Beginning<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Girls Night was a joyful, sacred, life-changing night\u2014but it was never meant to stand alone. It was only a glimpse of what God wants to build here at Champion Forest: a church where women of all ages pour into one another, walking together in truth, grace, and delight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cThe Lord delights in you,\u201d Andrea said. \u201cAnd He wants you to share that delight with someone else.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    Growing up, Ana Alonso attended a Catholic Church, but for whatever reason, she never really felt connected. She thought she couldn't have a relationship with Jesus. This all changed when her aunt invited her to a new church. Ana was struck by the beauty of this new church. The way they worshipped God and talked about Scripture opened her eyes and heart. It made her want to start going to church more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    But soon after this, she found herself in an unhealthy relationship. This relationship eventually led her astray, and she stopped going to church. She focused so much on this relationship that she quickly lost herself. She wrestled with depression and anxiety during this season, and to make matters worse, her mom was also going through her own mental health battle. It was a difficult period in Ana\u2019s life. She felt like everything was spiraling out of control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One day, she had a terrible argument with her mom, and in a moment of intense emotion, she found herself yelling at her mom. She had become someone she didn't recognize. \u201cI don\u2019t yell at my family like this,\u201d she thought to herself. She was devastated and heartbroken that she had let things get to this point. In a state of despair, she left and headed to a nearby park, alone. At the park, she just cried. \u201cThere\u2019s no hope left for me,\u201d she thought. She felt like the only way out was to end her life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Amidst her desperation, she turned to God and whispered for help. She apologized for distancing herself from him and asked for strength to endure. Moments later, two older ladies walked towards her. As they approached, Ana couldn't stop crying, until one of them reached out her hand and placed it on Ana\u2019s shoulder. The woman spoke softly, saying, \"I'm so sorry.\" Ana knew God had answered her prayer. It was the spark of hope she needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Since then, Ana\u2019s relationship with Jesus and her faith has grown tremendously. Of course, it has been a journey, but Ana has seen God\u2019s faithfulness time and time again. She set a goal to begin reading the Bible daily, and now she can't wait to read it every day. Even in times of frustration or bitterness, she will pray or go to her Bible, asking God for answers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    But her journey didn't end there. She eventually found her way to The Grove, a young adult gathering at Champion Forest. She started attending regularly. Now, she serves at the Grove as part of the weekly hospitality team. She continues to meet new people each week who share her hunger for the Lord. When asked about her time at the Grove, Ana said, \u201cWe worship Jesus together and discuss Scripture, and I've even had the chance to pray over others. Being part of this community has been a huge blessing for me, and I believe it was completely the Holy Spirit guiding me to this place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ana\u2019s testimony is a good reminder that no matter how lost you may feel, God is always with you. He will guide you and give you the strength you need to get through even the toughest of times. It's okay to ask for help, to pray, and to turn to God in moments of desperation. It's also important to surround yourself with a community that shares your faith, where you can grow together in
