Mother's Day

In honor of your mother on Mother's Day, you will be able to make a donation to the Children's Heart Project of Samaritan's Purse. Children's Heart Project began in 1997 and identifies children with life-threatening heart disease in countries that lack technology and training, and matches them with North American hospitals and surgeons that donate their time and services. Fifty-one hospitals in 28 states and Canada have provided heart care for children from Mongolia, Honduras, Kosovo, Bosnia, Uganda, and Nigeria. Please look for the donation card in next week's worship folder.

New Student Pastor, Jeff Skipper

Our student pastor search committee along with Dr. Fleming and the personnel committee are very excited to announce that Jeff Skipper will now serve as our new Pastor to Middle school and High school students. Jeff, along with his wife Rochelle and their children, Garrett & Emily, have served as our Young Married Adult Pastor for the past 9 months. After nearly a year long search and looking at several hundred candidates it has become clear that Jeff is God's perfect man for this position. We can't tell you how amazed and excited we were as God finally revealed His perfect will to us. Welcome Jeff, Rochelle, Garrett & Emily to this new ministry at Champion Forest. Pray for them and our students as they transition into the new role that God has for them!

Vacation Bible School Teachers

Aloha! Surf's up at Outrigger Island, where kids will learn to know, speak, and live God's unshakeable truth! Knowing, talking about, and living out God's truth in kids' daily lives will help them be spiritually stable in a world filled with unpredictable tides of opinion and waves of change.

Island guides (teachers) are needed to lead wave riders (children) as they comb the beaches and island hop through this tropical adventure. Sign up today and join the fun! Student volunteers are also needed but must be in high school unless a parent is also working in VBS.

IMPACT Updates

Our campaign ended with over $21.6 million dollars in pledges. We are hoping that these pledges will be completed in a three year period which began April 1st. You may write one check to the church for your Budget offering, World Missions and Impact. On your offering envelope, there are places for you to break the total check into as many as three items. The current offering envelope now reads Building Fund, but will be changed to IMPACT soon.

You will be receiving your contribution statement from the church shortly. In it will be a letter regarding pledges for IMPACT. We could have made a mistake in recording your pledge amount. If your pledge is wrong the letter will tell you who to contact and how.

Membership Class

Those interested in fulfilling the requirement for membership or learning more about the church are invited to attend the Membership Class on May 18th at 9:30am in the Choir Room. Pastor Wade Liberator will lead the class, and everyone 6th grade and older is encouraged to attend. Sunday School classes are available for your children, birth-5th grade during this time.

Backpacking Adventure Trip

Adult Volleyball

All men and women are invited to come join our co-ed volleyball league on Tuesday nights beginning March 11 - May 20. Pick-up games begin at 7:00 p.m. each Tuesday in the gyms, so come join in whenever you can. Participation is free for FLC members and $2 per night for non-members.

Join us in the student building on May 20th at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy the Fabulous Fantastic Fashion Show. It's a potluck dinner night with a fashion show like you've never seen before, and hopefully will never see again! This is a must for every 55+ Member. We will also be collecting fans that evening for inner city seniors benefiting the Gano Mission Center.

A local expert will talk about rigging a kayak, getting started, and discussing where to go. A silent auction benefiting the Baptist Mission Centers will be held Monday, May 12, 2008 from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Northgate Country Club. Please come for refreshments and fellowship. While you are there, bid on a gift basket or baskets. All proceeds will go to the centers.

Africa Mission Trip

Join us on our mission trip to Kenya, July 10-23. There are open spaces for anyone interested in working with middle and high school students, or for people who can sing or play an instrument. The cost is $2,500. We will lead worship for hundreds of missionaries, lead bible study times with kids, and explore the beauty of Africa on a safari trip to Masai Mara. Student Camp 2008

CFBC Student Ministry camps are second to none! Worship, recreation, and break-out sessions create an incredible week where students get away from life's distractions and focus on a relationship with Jesus Christ. High School Camp will be at Panama City Beach, Florida from June 8th-14th. Middle School Camp will be at Carolina Creek Christian Retreat Center outside of Lake Livingston, TX, from June 23rd-27th.
