About the Praise Team

• We meet every Monday at 7:15 p.m in the Choir Room.

Requirements

Purpose

To worship the one true living God. To be more committed to being a worshipper than a leader.

Requirements

1. A member of CFBC - must have completed the membership class or will sign up to attend.
2. A life-style that is continually growing to conform to the image of Christ.
   1. A good testimony to the body (the church family). Cheerful . . . considerate . . .caring (not proud or boastful of position).
   2. It has long been a requirement of the leadership of CFBC to adhere to a strict policy of abstinence with regards to the consumption of alcohol. With Praise Team members being the most visible leadership of the Worship Ministry and desiring to be above reproach, we would ask that each member commit to the same policy. In signing up for an audition/interview you are in essence agreeing with that policy.
   3. A cooperative spirit within Praise Team when soloists are chosen. A desire to care more about the team than self - being selfless.
3. Faithful attendance:
   1. a. Choir - 80%
   2. Praise Team Rehearsals - 80%
   3. Praise Team Service - 80%
   4. Services whether you're singing or not
   Participation is expected in all productions . . . Christmas, Patriotic, Recordings, etc. Any known exceptions to this requirement must be cleared through the interview team prior to auditioning for praise team.

Choir is more important than Praise Team. We are a part of the whole; 80% attendance in BOTH choir and praise team is the lowest acceptable . . . 100% is expected.

Rehearsals are 2 1/2 hours only per week. That is SO little for such important work. Two things are required for every rehearsal:

1. Great Attitude!
2. ON TIME Arrival!

Make a habit that on time is 5 minutes early! In case you must be absent . . . you need to make two calls:

1. Dick Hill
2. Your Director
4. Purchasing outfits that coordinate for colors/themes, etc.
   • Easy! . . . Nothing Short/Nothing Tight!
   • We love fabric - especially vests/jackets!
   • LADIES: Slacks/Skirts/Dresses - ANKLE LENGTH!
   • MEN: No shorts.
   • Color themes for each week will be assigned.
5. Give of time to prepare and memorize music outside rehearsals.
6. Attend other opportunities of service outside of the church that may come.
7. Must sing/participate in all productions . . . Christmas, Patriotic, Recordings, etc.
8. Sacrificial giving for trips or needs within ministry. Not the attitude of "what is the church going to do for me . . . but . . . what can I do for Christ and this ministry."
9. Acceptance of the style of music used . . . never complaining about what you like better.

Sunday and Wednesday Services

• Rehearsals:
  Choir - Mondays: 6:00pm - 7:15pm
  Praise Teams - Mondays: 7:15 - 8:30 p.m.
• The 4 Praise Teams alternate weekends - when your Praise Team is up, you sing for the Sunday Morning Service.
• Volunteer to sing on a Praise Team on several Wednesday evenings

Qualities needed:

1. A blending voice.
2. Flexible for differing styles.
3. Ability to read music.
4. Can memorize.
5. Must sing straight tones. Vibrato will make a voice stand out more than any other quality.
6. A slow vibrato changes pitch causing difficulty in blending.
7. Sing center of pitch-not below (flat) or above (sharp).
8. Energized voices/very electric.
