A Message from David Upchurch

To me being in the outdoors is one of those experiences that affects my heart and it is why I'm involved with True North Outfitters. The outdoors are refreshing, awe inspiring and a way I generally connect with friends with similar passions, like hunting and fishing. Each time in the outdoors something stands out that causes me to stop for a moment, things like the stars in the sky, the sunrise or sunset, the intricate bark on a tree or the creative details of the animals and fish. In that moment I believe we get a glimpse into God's heart for people and his creative power. One verse I think of when I'm in the outdoors is found in the New Testament, "for since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made..." As a result, looking at a sunrise I can connect with God; watching ducks and geese migrate here from the north reminds me there is a plan deep inside of all of us.

For True North Outfitters I hope to connect with other outdoorsmen and create that same kind of experience. We are making some new tracks to focus on relationships that make the outdoors even more powerful. Remember those times shared around a camp fire, in a boat or just out hiking in the woods...they are powerful connectors. Instead of only hosting big events we are going to meet monthly when our schedules allow and focus on outdoor topics that interest us, topics like deer hunting, dog training, saltwater fishing, goose calling... We'll meet around tables like we are at our favorite outdoor camp and get to know other guys and their experiences. We may go fishing or hunting together and even plan an adventure trip to create a lifelong memory.
