History

Our Home Education Support Group was organized in September, 1993, by Champion Forest Baptist Church in response to a growing need to support member families who educate their children at home.

Purpose and Goals

We desire to glorify God by providing encouragement, fellowship, support, information, and accountability so that we can fulfill the blessed task that God has given us to do.

Membership

Membership is open to any Champion Forest Baptist Church member. Non-CFBC members may also join if referred by a current Harvest Christian Schools' support group member who has been active in the group at least 6 months. All prospective members wishing to join the HCS support group must sign HCS's Statement of Belief form that corresponds to CFBC's belief statement. Those who are actively home-schooling or considering home education are welcomed and encouraged to join.

Encouragement

CORE Fellowships are monthly gatherings, either at a member's home or the church, where mom's can refresh themselves through fellowship, sharing of ideas and concerns, prayer and getting to know each other better. At least twice a year these fellowship meetings are open to both moms and dads. Those seeking more information about home education are welcome to attend.

Support

Co-Op/Mom's Morning Out is a monthly meeting of all age groups at the church, featuring classes of interest for students. We also facilitate annual standardized testing.

Opportunities

Field-trips, picnics, Share Night (talent show), skating, seasonal parties, Moms' Retreat and the end of the year Recognition Night (in May) are just a few of the activities and social opportunities available to members and guests.

Keeping in Touch

Updates are relayed through the group's newsletter and e-mail system. Emergency prayer requests are passed along a "phone tree." We receive regional and national news through Southeast Texas Home School Association, Texas Home School Coalition, and Home School Legal Defense Association.
