General Information
For most activities, the facilities are available for children birth through Kindergarten under the supervision of authorized personnel. Birth through 5th grade will be provided during select activities.
Childcare is only provided through age twelve regardless of school grade. A minimum of 10 children is required to open facilities.
The Childcare Ministry will maintain the Klein Independent School District calendar.
Most weekday events are to be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. Friday night Childcare ends at 9:45 pm. Childcare will not be provided on Saturday.
All Children present in a CFBC childcare session must be brought by their parent/legal guardian, who is required to be in attendance at the specific church supported event for which childcare is being provided.
No one shall leave a child of any age unattended in the church facility at any time.
Drop off and Pick up Procedures
Childcare rooms open 15 minutes prior to an event, with the exception of FLC. This program begins at 9:00 and rooms open at 9:00 due to staff arrival time. Rooms are closed immediately following the event.
For any childcare activity, children must be brought to the room by a parent, adult or legal guardian and signed in. Emergency numbers and parent location must always be left. All CFBC approved security system policies are in effect at all times for preschoolers. Children will only be released to an authorized adult.
Off Campus Events
All childcare is provided for on-campus events with the exception of Friday Night Childcare. This is an official off-campus events budgeted and supported by CFBC.
Curriculum
Every childcare event will include a Bible lesson and craft. On Sunday nights, the children will be taught Mission Friends. Summer Wednesday nights will also include a TEAMKID curriculum for older Preschoolers. In addition, various LifeWay Curriculum is used throughout the rest of the week for different programs.
Age Grouping
We divide classes by birth date and post Age Grouping Charts outside each classroom and in the hallways. Please check the charts for each activity, as they change to adjust for attendance and teacher/child ratios.
Food
Please feed your child before coming to childcare, except for special events when all children will be fed. Time and circumstances do not allow for spoon-feeding by caregivers. We provide water and a snack for every child. Please inform us of any allergies your child may have, and fill out an Allergy Alert sticker to ensure his safety.
Home-based daycare providers
Employed home-based daycare providers will not be eligible to leave those children in their charge in CFBC care during activities where paid childcare is provided.
Special Needs
We welcome children with special needs during childcare sessions if we can safely assimilate them into a regular classroom setting and have adequate personnel. Within the perimeters of our current guidelines and because of the nature of childcare activities with larger class sizes and teacher/child ratios, we are unable to provide for children who require special circumstances, one-on-one care, or whose behavior endangers the safety of the other children.
Illness
If your child exhibits any signs of illness within 24 hours before class, please do not bring him/her to class that day. Signs include a cough, cold, upset stomach, diarrhea, rash, fever, sore throat, ear ache, etc. If your child often has a runny nose due to allergies or non-infectious sinus drainage, obtain a doctor's statement stating this. Otherwise, your child will be diagnosed as ill and will not be allowed to stay.
Allergies
If your child has allergies, fill out an allergy alert sticker and inform his/her teacher at time of drop-off. Also include any allergies on the enrollment form.
Labeling Personal Items
Please label all items (diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, etc.) belonging to your child. Personal toys, gum, candy or coins should be left at home.
Teachers
For the safety of the children, all teachers have completed a thorough application process, which includes interviews, reference checks, criminal background check, and training. Teachers have been trained in classroom management practices to maintain safety and control of the classroom.
Behavior Concerns
If a discipline problem occurs, or if a child is unusually upset, the child will be removed from the situation and redirected in another way to help the child regain a positive focus. The teacher/childcare coordinator will notify the parent privately if behavior continues to be disruptive or if the child remains unsettled. Our goal is to be firm, but loving.
Biting Policy
In the event of a biting incident in a classroom, the following guidelines will be followed:
Parents of both the children will receive a “biting incident” report. The parent of the child who was bitten will never be given the name of the biter; this information is confidential. Likewise, the parent of the child who is doing the biting will never be given the name or names of the child or children that was bitten. A copy of these reports will be placed in the child’s file in the office.
Suspending a child:
1) A child who bites two (2) times within a thirty (30) day period or three (3) times within a year and breaks the skin of the other children will be suspended one month. At the end of one month the child will be permitted to return to the classroom.
*NOTE: Any overly aggressive behavior will be addressed using the biting policy guidelines.
