An InsideOut Look at Champion Forest Baptist Church

Sharing Your Faith

Eduardo SalazarFor Eduardo Salazar it was another day at the office. It was the same morning routine, same morning route, and same morning arrival time in the parking lot at work. Everything seemed to be pointing to another day of meetings and emails. What Eduardo didn’t know is that God was up to something. God was up to something that would change someone’s eternity forever. And He was going to use Eduardo to do it.

Once to his office, Eduardo looked over the day’s schedule and saw many names on the docket. There was one particular name on the list that would prove to be an appointment of a different kind. More than just another slot and another meeting, this was a divine appointment that would alter an eternity.

Her name was Kathryn. She was a high school student struggling to make sense of things in her life. Never intending to get off the “straight and narrow” path, she found herself drifting off to a place she never wanted to go. Afraid, nervous, and unsure of her own faith, she turned to Eduardo for help.

After a series of questions and listening the appointment was underway. Eduardo began to hear her uncertainty about life and God. She wasn’t sure what to make of some scripture she had read. She began to question Eduardo about the Bible and God, and God’s work in the world. Eduardo wasn’t sure where to even begin. Racking his brain, he decided to go with the one thing he felt sure about: FAITH.

He began to share with Kathryn about God’s forgiveness. He explained to her that this forgiveness is available and that the truth of the Gospel is Jesus’ death on a cross for her sins, past and present. By the time Eduardo reached the point of talking about spending eternity with God, Kathryn was already deeply moved.

After he finished sharing the Gospel of Jesus using the FAITH outline he closed with a final question, asking her if she was ready to receive Jesus and all that she had just heard. To Eduardo’s joy, she said, “yes.”

“You will never know the honor and humility you feel when you lead someone to Christ unless you have done it,” states Eduardo. “You remember being in their position and it takes you back to Jesus love for you and His love for those who haven’t found Him yet. God loves those who are lost without Him more than anyone.”

FAITH is a Sunday night experience that equips believers through an easy 5-step process. Using the word “FAITH”, the core essentials of beliefs and the ability to share life experiences are explained. Eduardo continued, “FAITH gave me the confidence and security to share my faith in a way where I can say more than just ‘I believe.’ FAITH allows me to lay out what I believe and use the Bible to do it. Most people don’t know where to begin when sharing their love for Jesus. FAITH gives people that starting point.”

Eduardo is a counselor here at CFBC. He meets with people all day, everyday talking about life’s problems and pains. He has never considered himself a “pastor” or even someone that is comfortable sharing what he believes. “Most people don’t know where to start when sharing their faith. I was one of those people. More than just saying ‘I believe,’ I wanted to be able to communicate the faith I had and the joy I felt,” admitted Eduardo. “So I took the invitation of a friend, Louis Miori, and joined the fall semester of FAITH Evangelism Training.”
